Here are some photos of what they are doing with the transfer floor. From the ground it looks like nothing is happening but as you can see, they have been very busy. Based on the fact I can only see the workers heads from my normal vantage point I'm guessing that transfer floor is close to 5 feet deep which seems insane. Anyone else have a say on that?

Oh my! That transfer floor is beautiful. I've never seen such crazy engineering before in my life. I only wish that the original redesign was being built because I can only imagine the transfer floors they be pouring for such a radical cantilever.

It is indeed a 5' thick floor. First pour will be 20" and then a 40" pour.

Transfer floors are used to change the layout of the columns. They're not always super thick slabs though.

Looks like they're also using the transfer floor to reroute services to accommodate the new floorplate layout.

The curves are from runs of post stress cables that haven't been fully placed yet.

Thanks Harry. I'm interested to see what they do with the balconies protruding out on the east side of the building. That aspect doesn't seem to have made it in the final design.

Lovely rhythmic thump/clang of the concrete pump this morning - boom extended and transfer floor being poured. It is Tight on lower Wacker but they are keeping 2 trucks at a time pouring into the pump.

^ This will take all day I'd imagine. Was by the site early this morning and saw the action as well. What does a 5 ft thick concrete slab of this area (just guessing.....14-15k sq ft) weigh, for our construction/engineering forummers?

^About 5200 tons I'd guess. Isn't it about 1980 cubic meters of concrete?

That is a lot of concrete… How many truck loads are we talking? How long does it take a slab this size to cure enough for work to continue upwards?
