Yeah, it's phase 1 of Containers - it went through "the cheapening".

... The image shows the current model for the B&H Bunting Coady design. Confusingly, the developers, Rize Alliance, still have a website up for an earlier version of the project designed by a different architect.

Kevin Falcon joins Anthem Properties

http://www.biv.com/article/20130426/BIV0111/130429949/kevin-falcon-joins-anthem-properties

Anthem is lucky to get such a solid guy.

.............

Falcon will join Anthem as an executive vice-president, responsible for growing the company's business portfolio and raising equity funds from banks and investors.

Falcon served as an MLA for 12 years. Prior to holding the finance portfolio, he was minister of transportation and then minister of health.

In 2010, Falcon ran for leadership of the B.C. Liberal party after the resignation of Premier Gordon Campbell, but lost to current Premier Christy Clark. In August 2012 he announced he would step down, citing family commitments.

Before becoming a politician, Falcon was vice-president at Northwest Investment Properties. In 1998, he founded communications firm Access Communications.

Anthem has recently bought the historic Save On Meats building in East Vancouver, home of a diner and butcher shop that was recently featured on Dragons' Den spinoff TV show The Big Decision.

Anthem announced that it plans to renovate the historic landmark, consolidating the Save On Meats businesses onto the ground-floor retail level and creating new loft-style office space on the building's second, third and fourth levels.

Didn't Mark Brand do some reno work on the Save On Meats building a couple of years ago, including a restoration of the historic neon sign? What, he was a tenant there, and did all of that work? Or did Anthem buy the building from him?
I also thought his business took up multiple floors of that building, so having to consolidate everything onto the ground floor sounds like a major squeeze.

He was a tenant and he's getting a better lease on the remaining ground floor with some reworking of the butcher shop so it's probably better than bleeding cash while taking up the whole building. Was the sign restored or was it still working when the old butcher closed up shop?

Yes Mark was using the whole building and spent a bunch of money restoring parts of it, but he was bleeding more money then he expected. He became pretty nervous when he found out the building was being sold and considered making a play on it himself but the timing wasn't right. My understanding is the new deal suits both parties, Mark will be paying less rent but will lose the upper floors which weren't making him any money. I'm sure Mark is sad about losing the space when was giving back to the community and he'll probably do something similar elsewhere when he can.

Got around to a bunch of places while out doing errands today.

Here's Cambie7

Broadway Central (I've seen it referred to as Dr. Somethingorother Medical Building)

Down on Terminal Ave. This building got some signage.
Ground-level retail will include a Subway and a Taco Del Mar.

The Mercedes Dealership is moving on slowly but surely.
It's hard to get a good shot of the site though, as it is so large,
and the Skytrain blocks you from the other side of the street.

(front)

(west side)

(east side)

At the Porsche site the fencing makes a front shot a challenge as well.

Lastly, here's a shot of both sites.

Does anyone know what is being built behind the Starbucks on terminal? The elevator core has been built and it looks like it will be two stories tall and pretty large
