Très belle tour, massivement impressionnante aussi. Elle réplique la façade mince nord-sud et grande est-ouest du 1250 Rene-Levesque. Elle va ajouter de la gueule dans le skyline, ça c'est certain.

J'ai des réserves par contre quant au stationnement et l'effet de ce bloc massif noir quand on circulera ou marchera au niveau de la rue.

Je trouve aussi que la base et la tour s'harmonisent mal. La tour a l'air grimpée sur une table ! De tous les podiums annoncés (Altoria, L'Avenue, Rocabella, etc.), celui-là donne pour l'instant la moins bonne impression.

Moi, comme certains d'entre vous, je ne suis pas sure à propos du logo.

I think they should get rid of it, ou peut-etre le placer derrière un panneau activable electroniquement et qui s'ouvre pour laisser place au logo et ce seulement la journée d'un match.

Unreal!!!!! I am no writer but I swear I could have written a much better article.

In 5 mins I clicked on the "report typo/inaccuracy" button and dashed this reply off to their editors

"Your article entitled "Developer unveils $2B plans for downtown Montreal" your reporter makes the following remark

"The developer said it also hopes to erect a 50-storey condominium tower on top of the arena..."

The CBC it would seem is behind on this issue. There is no hope for the 50 storey tower, it has ALREADY been approved and units are on sale NOW. It's going to be built. The development community has been talking about this since we first found out about the proposal in 2011!

Whomever wrote this article in English should be spoken to for it was not written properly (I am told the French version of the article was better with more details). It's lacks the details for a project of this magnitude and way too dismissive considering that Tour Des Canadiens will soon start construction and Tour Deloitte is already under construction. Your article makes it sound like these are only just now being proposed.

Le podium s'harmonise bien en volume avec le Centre Bell voisin. De plus, les fines bandes horizontales de son revètement en allège le volume.

Au contraire de vous deux, je crois que l'effet vu de la rue sera correct.

Remarques intéressantes.

Il y aurait tout un débat à avoir sur les podiums, d'autant plus qu'ils semblent devenus la règle dans les projets mixtes.

Au fond, ils se sont généralisés pour répondre à une nouvelle exigence : qu'un effort soit fait pour harmoniser l'architecture des tours avec l'environnement existant. On a dépassé le pur modernisme de l'architecture monument en mettant du Jane Jacobs là-dedans, c'est-à-dire un souci du contexte et un souci pour la rue comme entité vivante.

Le défi devient de répondre à des exigences contradictoires : l'harmonie avec l'environnement bâti ET la cohérence globale du nouvel immeuble. Dans le cas de la tour du Canadien, AlainS a raison de dire qu'on a fait un effort pour harmoniser le volume avec celui du Centre Bell. Mais je persiste à penser que le projet (surtout sur la photo du 6 mars) annonce un décalage entre le podium et la tour, qui a l'air "juchée sur une table", pour reprendre cette image.
