Depends on how many people bought into the Maddox actually intending to live there.

It is indeed the Quality Inn. Also, if people buy a condo downtown (and it's not directly on the water or a park) they should assume their view will be blocked (at least in part) at some point. You're out to lunch if you're thinking otherwise.

Yeah, but it's just remarkable how fast things can change. Maddox won't be ready before end of this year and in just few years it will already be surrounded by tall towers. The Granville Bridge area is really booming!

I kinda wish that another key part of Downtown South has remained undeveloped so that taller towers could be built there
(but subject to viewcones). The bridgehead area is going gangbusters in part because that's the only area left.

*************

I could see it ending up as a taller version of Atelier - with a fully round floorplate.

Round and curvy walls make decorating an apartment an interesting activity. Living in One Wall Center and not having many straight walls in whole apartment, I really know what I am talking about...

I had a similar problem living at 555 Jervis (harbourside park). The semi-circular living rooms were a challenge.

can't remember what this is called but here's a recent update

That highrise under construction is named 'Alexandra on English Bay'. It's a Concord Pacific + Millennium World project.

cool little infill project in the core

http://changingcitybook.com/2013/04/05/411-dunsmuir-street/

Currently 411 Dusmuir is receiving a major makeover – it’s over 100 years old, and it’s being resored as an office and retail building by new owners. It started life as the Labour Temple in 1911, and most recently was the 411 Seniors Centre. What this illustration shows is that there’s an 11,000 square foot addition designed by Omicron proposed to be added onto the vacant 25 foot wide lot to the north. ......

That 508 Helmcken Street doesn't actually look bad at all. Nice to see some taller towers popping here and there. Brings some visual interest into the area.

Very artistic approach with the photo, but I really appreciate this fresh angle! We also seem to be almost neighbours.

Thanks Klazu but that shot was taken from my friends's place. You live in the Wall Centre right?
