Just because London (or any other city) has one doesn't validate a need to stick one in Atlanta. Kind of the same thinking that resulted in the Atlantic Station arch but don't get me started on

Really, what are you going to look at? You won't find anyone who loves the city more but the reality is we don't have a great (or even not-so-great) waterfront, a dense cluster of buildings or some stunning natural feature to look at. Basically the view will be the a/c condensors on the roofs of several low rise buildings, the mountains in the distance and Centennial Olympic Park. Not terrible but is it really enough to warrant a ferris wheel? The view going up the Peachtree Plaza will still be much more impressive.
IMO, they're kind of tacky. Along the same lines as a Pirate Museum but don't get me started on
that!
If the powers-that-be are hell bent on building something, why can't we think outside the box? Below is a photo I posted back when this was first announced of an observation tower being planned (built?) in Taiwan. I'm not saying build this but can't we have something more unique than a ferris wheel?
