from today, the crane has been raised (it will be raised one more time before the building tops out), and work on the facade will likely begin in the next week or so.





this is kind of a "mini boom" for boise; there were more than a half dozen construction projects last summer on the perimeter of downtown, including our first Whole Foods, our first Chick Fila, a new athletic complex for high school sports and continued expansion of the Boise State football stadium and facility (the facility is scheduled to be done before next season).

there is a new Simplot corporate tower being planned. rumors are that it could be anything from a single 10-story building to two 12-story towers, though nobody really knows. our fingers are crossed that it would be a 100m tower.

Panels going up on Main street garage floors, and now we will soon see crane raised again with brace on the 15th floor. By the end of April we should have a really good idea how it will look with the facing additions.

The escalators have arrived. Ive never really seen one just sitting on the floor like this. I'm pretty sure they are not just giving them away.

This tower is so close to being topped off. It's amazing to see the rate it shot up.

Thanks Sawtooth for posting pictures from the Capitol building. I always forget that Capitol Boulevard has a neat little stretch of high-rises that you can only see looking south.

8th and Main is coming right along. It's hard to imagine what 8th Street will be like when this project is complete because I've only experienced 8th when there was a huge pit. This project will surely make 8th even more unique than it already is!

it will certainly make a huge difference with all the bars and restaurants along 8th between bannock and bodo, especially with 4 new restaurants going in to this building.

i think this building essentially completes the grove core area of downtown. from now on, we'll probably see downtown slowly migrate west towards 36th street.
