They have two LRT lines that are intended to go there as well don't they? Eglington and another I believe.

The Eglinton Line was supposed to get to the Airport, not anymore though.

It westernmost stop is Jane.

Nope. I would have much rather been able to ride the TTC or GO to Union from the airport. This is nice, but...

Yeah, I would as well. It would not be as efficient at serving a single purpose, but it would be able to fill multiple roles. A rapid transit or GO connection would allow people who work at the airport or in one of the many commercial offices around it to commute in from anywhere in the city, which would reduce the total number of automobiles heading to and from the Malton area. Not only that, but passengers who, you know, live somewhere other than the downtown would have a much easier time getting home on public transit. As it stands, the line has an extremely limited number of connections and will likely do nothing more than reduce the number of limos heading downtown. It's always struck me as a complete waste of money.

I don't believe the Eglington Crosstown was ever supposed to the airport... or was it?
I always thought it was going to be the Finch West LRT, and I believe the plan is still for it to go to the airport after Humber College.

Nope, the plan was for the Eglinton LRT to go the airport.

It still can, but with the ARL, being built that possibility is a long way out.

Connecting using the Jane LRT possibly. (Proposed Jane LRT - currently shelved)

Thereby meeting up with the Eglinton LRT.

The FWLRT originally planned to go to the airport, but I doubt we will be seeing any new LRT past the current plans for toronto for at least a decade. Focus has shifted to the DRL and the Yonge extension. I would be surprised if the ECLRT reached the airport by 2030, really.

So the DRL is a-go? That would be awesome to see that UC within the next few years.

If they can agree on the funding source, 5 to 10 years is doable.

The Yonge Line cannot survive much longer by itself. A second U shaped line into the downtown core from the suburbs is required, urgently.

(An electrified, GO Train Line, as well as an electrified Air Rail Link, might ease the situation depending on how it's applied and how many stops they include, but this will not eliminate the need for the second subway line into the downtown core)

It depends if the transit tax happens. If it does, the DRL and a whole ton of other projects ($38 billion worth of projects) will be happening over the next 15 years. If not,then who knows when. We will likely know whether it is happening or not by the end of the summer though, so fingers crossed.
