An interview in this AM's paper says that the Target store reno is in full swing. Store expected to open in October. Expected to double or even triple foot traffic at Uptown Centre compared to Zellers

If we can keep more people on this side of the border for shopping and keep money in our economy then great!

Anyone know about this proposed development on Rainesford Lane?

http://www.fredericton.ca/en/citygovernment/resources/Bylaws-Proposed-Z2-842.pdf

Says in the notice in the paper the rezoning is to permit the construction of a 5 story hotel. Seems to be an odd location for a hotel especially given the other proposals for hotels that are currently in play. This would make the 4th hotel to move through council that are in the works. (Hampton Inn, Downtown, Kingswood and this one)

Very unlikely my friend, People will still cross the border, Canada can not compete with the prices in the USA.. Even though our dollar is worth 98 cents , still worth the trip

R-3 wouldn't allow for a hotel though, would it? I thought they the plan was to have townhouses on that site.

I agree but not what it states in the City of Fredericton newspaper notice in today's paper. City notice says it is for a 5 story hotel.

Building lots on Weaver Lane in Marysville (Cotton Mill Creek) are selling at a good rate. These lots are very similar to those found on Spinner Court (Just off Crocket Street) The new elementary school has been a major driver in the recent activity. Has anyone herd of activity on the property at the corner of Bridge Street & Route 8 (Marysville Bypass)?

There's nothing visibly going on around that property, but that doesn't mean a lot.

My understanding is that Shannex is going to expand it's operation in this area.

Not sure if anything is happening there but would make a good location for a gas bar

Uptown Centre Target renovations have begun and Regent Wal-Mart will be starting its renovations in just a few days; the store will not be gaining any additional square footage.

Do you mean this property? http://www.kwfredericton.ca/listing/977919/-bridge-street/

It's been for sale for a while with multiple price reductions.

Yes but not on that property. The next phase of their proposed expansion is behind their current buildings.

Yep...odd. Also of note is that this application is from Greenarm....not Shannex. Likely commercial intent
