LOL TSN really jumped the gun on that one. They even interviewed Marchand about Iggy becoming a Bruin. Great news though! I much rather see him as a Penguin.

The 1st that Boston offered was conditional and the one from Pit is not, and the two NCAA guys won't be superstars but have good potential.

this has been one heck of a weird day first with CSIOttawa(lol Melnyk

) pulling off the unbelievable Iginla trade switch-aroo.

Feels pretty good to be a Pens fan right now, but I'm not going to breakout the champagne just yet. This and the win streak won't mean shit if they don't bring the cup home this year.

How much do people want to bet that Iggy resigns with the Flames this summer, especially if he wins that Stanley Cup with the Pens this year?

Glad to get a guaranteed first round pick rather than just a conditional one.

I don't see it happening. Feaster strongly hinted that the Flames can't afford him next season, at market rates. He'd have to take one hell of a hometown discount to return. Of course if we have a fire sale in the next week, all bets are off.

Pittsburgh can't afford him, either. Not with the cap coming down. I'm very interested to see where he ends up come July 1.

Most Flames fans knew (or at least very strongly suspected) that Sunday's game was his last in the Saddledome. Hence the insane reaction when he scored the GWG. It was a bit of "goodbye, Jarome".

Here's hoping a miracle happens and Pittsburgh tanks the rest of the season, so this pick ends up being worth something. Not gonna happen though. I'm now just praying the Flames lose enought that we pick top 5, possibly top 3. Assholes had to go and win a game last night to spoil the fun though.

The Pittsburgh deal is actually better.

As far as Feaster goes....time will tell how good a GM he is. Everyone is pointing to the error with Ryan O'Reilly, and while it's true that it could have been bad for Calgary, I don't equate that mistake as a typical hockey talent type mistake (see Mike Milbury or Don Waddell).
The other teams that were looking at O' Reilly also missed it, so did Ryan O'Reilly and his agent, and so did all the other so called experts in the media.

Again it could have been bad for Calgary, but it's not a typical bad hockey move. Those are reserved for Mike Milbury.

I like Iggy going to Pittsburgh, but I wouldn't hand over the cup yet. Many a star player has been traded at the deadline to an already contending team that hasn't resulted in a cup win.

Bondra to Ottawa
Fleury to Colorado
Forsberg coming out of retirement to join Nashville
Bourque to Colorado. (Hew won the cup with them the following year)
Hossa to Pittsburgh

There are other examples, but these are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

I'll be cheering for Pittsburgh, and I think Shero has done a good job with the trades, but there is still a long way to go for the Pens.

Pittsburgh is going to have the best top 2 lines I've seen in my lifetime. Assuming they keep the Kunitz/Crosby(combined for 96 points) duo together, it'll probably look something like:

Iginla / Crosby / Kunitz
Neal / Malkin / Dupuis

Gonna miss Iggy, but it had to be done. Don't know much about the prospects we got, hoping for a good draft this summer with the 1st round pick. Not sure if the team should have a fire sale or not though, the cupboards aren't that bare...

Watching that was not fun. I knew it was coming so when I heard the Boston rumors yesterday and saw the Pens confirmation this morning I felt fine, a little pissed about the return, but didn't really feel anything about Iggy leaving but now I gotta admit, it's going to be hard not seeing Iginla out there in a Flaming C uniform.

I don't care if the pens 1st is the 30th pick. This is one of the rare occasions where I'll cheer for the name on the back. Go Pittsburgh. They have 100% of my support this season.

For those that talk about the Pens automatically winning the cup, remember that when the Pens won it in 1991 and 1992 they didn't have great regular season records and weren't favourites to win. The next two years they had awesome seasons and were heavily favoured but got knocked out early.

Agreed. Playoffs is a whole new game. Kings were 8th in the west last season and they were unstoppable in every one of their series...

as a staunch habs fan, i'm very pleased that iginla didn't land with boston. despise that team with an irrational passion, but i can't help but keep a soft spot for pittsburgh.
