We have professional development snoops on this site, so that does not surprise me in the slightest. It is not uncommon to see information on this forum a week or 2 before any news paper or news station runs a story on it.

Maybe they could push for the 2nd Trader Joe's in Salt Lake. Parking could be an issue, but it would bring people to the Gateway as well as provide a small grocery store for the area residents

I saw one of those bike stations going in this morning on 200 South near Westgate Lofts.

Key Bank (6 S Main)
Harmons, Exchange Place.

There are four other stations that currently say unavailable. I am assuming they just aren't set up yet, considering one of them is Gallivan.

Address says 312 N 400 W, but the arrow is placed at 12 N 400 W
90 S West Temple
225 S Main, (Gallivan)
349 S 200 E (Library/Public Safety)

It looks like some of them are being set up on the side of the road... I hope cars don't side-swipe them.

Regarding the project that has been mentioned on the NW corner of 400 S and W Temple. Moe's Grill, which was in the space north of Ruel's has relocated to 1300 S and 300 W, The W Lounge, which was located behind Moe's, closed it's doors last summer (RIP W Lounge).

It appears that the land owners are slowly making room for demolition.

That's two blocks from the Salt Palace. Would that work for a convention hotel? Speaking of convention hotels, would any private company build a convention hotel in Salt Lake without public assistance? Has any convention hotel ever been built without public assistance of some kind? Our politicians think everyone should have a 🞵🞵🞵, but spending public money on a convention hotel is a bad idea. Suppose everybody contributed the price of a 🞵🞵🞵 to building a convention hotel. How many millions would that be?

That location would be fine for a large hotel, but not a convention hotel. A Convention Hotel needs to either be directly connected to the convention center(like many) or directly across the street (which is the case in Denver).

The reason the county and city will be participating in the cost of the the hotel is that additional convention space and parking is needed for the Salt Palace. The public portion of funding would go towards the convention space and parking, not towards the rooms. Since the public is participating I am confident they will want a direct connection from the Salt Palace to the Hotel. This would allow the county (operator of the Salt Palace) to advertise the convention space within the hotel as part of the overall square footage of the Salt Palace, allowing them to attract, or retain, conventions that need larger space.

Convention "headquarter" hotels need that proximity to the convention center because the majority of the heads of the industry and organizers of the convention want to be able to be within a couple of minutes of the event and of their rooms. This allows them to better manage the convention and their time.

So to answer your question in long way, No, 400 S and W Temple would not work for the convention hotel.

Boy no kidding. Really hope governor Herbert Vetos it. There's plenty of people I see daily who I question should drive, yet alone owning and carrying a 🞵🞵🞵 everywhere they go believing they're this.

I hope they have a solution figured out to keep the bike stations balanced. I know in Paris they have to use trucks to redistribute bikes daily because they all end up at the bottoms of hills.

Some frown upon it and get all twisted, but I don't care.
