We are really rockin now! This year is shaping up to be really interesting in river city.
If my girl friend actually says to me,"wow thier building stuff in every empty lot I see", Things are lookin up.
It does seem like every time I go for a drive thier's someting new going up or getting ready to start construction. I haven't seen this much activity since I was a kid.
The development of Transcona West could soon be coming.
Local developer Genstar pitched its vision for building the neighbourhood at an open house at Canad Inns Transcona on Feb. 27. Genstar also developed the land immediately to the east of the proposed developments in Transcona West in the form of Kildonan Green.
The company is proposing to build approximately 2,500 housing units in three stages, with the first development, Devonshire Village, to be built south of a proposed extension of Kildare Avenue. Devonshire Village will have an emphasis on multifamily homes, with duplexes, townhomes, and condos proposed for the area.
Are there any other links to what Genstar is planning. Checked their website and all they had was Coming soon. It'd be nice to see what to expect in the next 10+ years around Transcona. Peguis and Ravelston need to be paved at some point as I used those two quite a bit to get around traffic on Regent and they get ugly around spring thaw. And at some point I'm guessing a stoplight will be going up at Plessis and Ravelston - that intersection is a prime location for a serious crash.

After the congestion that the 4 way stop that was in there for a while after the twinning on Plessis Rd. was completed caused I don't know if Russ Wyatt would want to push to have signals installed there.

Well that explains the zoning variance at 690 Taché. Glad to see some more development in the area. I'm hoping that all of this new density will make for a more vibrant Provencher one day.

parents who live in royalwood can easily walk kids to Ecole Guyot, but still a bit of a hike. Nice to see more pathways like this created. good for active folk. there was a lways a trail through the field,you just couldn't cross the ditch unless someone dropped some driftwood down.

'Rive Droite' is also a locality in Paris, on the other side of the river to 'Rive Gauche'.
It's actually a meme (correct use of the term?) for the entire section of the city of Paris that lies south of the Seine (a good 40% of the city I'd say). Used more generally, it is a code word for the more "artsy" and bohemian side of town there.

Any word on if/when they'll start construction on the remaining buildings? They've only built 2 of the 6. At some point the realtor told me the remaining 4 would be completed in the sping and fall of 2012.... Considering the whole concept involved a lush courtyard, the delay of getting the project done is certainly not helping sales.
