My most hated parking lot in the city. There are lots i hate but having a gravel lot at one of the most famous intersections in all of Canada is something Winnipeg should be ashamed of.

So you've seen it?? I know you can't reveal that much I'm sure but this sounds like there is a project that will be going ahead soon.

Any idea when us normals will find out about it?

It is a Creswin development so they will be using Ray Wan. As a result it will look like a turd.

The old rendering for a Wan-designed Creswin development on the site was fairly respectable:

Of course, that's from when Canwest was riding high, so maybe plans have been downscaled somewhat.

JamieDavid should have asked them what they were up to. I'm sure those guys don't know a whole lot but generally who they're working for and what's going on.

That doesn't sound promising. Is this the one that you were pulled from and was scaled back horribly?

I think my biggest worry about this building is that its pretty much the perfect spot for a new tallest. Its right by Portage and Main, its a large lot, perfect location.

If it's wasted on something half assed or small it will be a massive disappointment.

That said if its done properly this could be a massive game changer for Portage&Main and downtown Winnipeg as a whole. Though by Vikings... less than stellar endorsement, I fear I'll be crying in my beer soon.

I dont believe there is a large budget for the project but it still may be nice. We'll have to wait and see. It will not be a new tallest but for me, anything that fills that spot is welcome.

That's exciting. Congratulations on the acceptance, and a hearty, albeit early, WELCOME BACK!
