Word at UT is that shoring rigs are now on site for The Bond:

That area is really starting to pick up now. That render shows it all alone, but it'll be hemmed in on all sides by similar sized towers. The Bond, Theatre Park, Cinema Condos, Bisha, Pinnacle on Adelaide, Peter Street Condos, Picasso, Tableau, King Charlotte, The Mercer, all in a 2 block radius... most over 400 feet too.

Here's a preliminary rendering of a proposal for the Cunard block on the Halifax waterfront:

http://my-waterfront.ca/development/cunard-block-conceptual-design/

It will go just to the right of the glass building in this photo:

Doesn't really do anything for me, but as long as we're rid of that annoying parking lot, then I'm happy.

Good, one more empty lot bites the dust. It also blocks in that blank wall of the theatre. How long until we see a proposal for the Hooters site?

The Bond has a really nice looking podium.

Yeah, I don't like the design that much either. This is just a preliminary rendering though so the final product will probably look a little better than this.

The parking lot is annoying and there are enough parking lots around there that the area feels more like a collection of buildings than a real neighbourhood. The new building should complement Bishop's Landing nicely.

This aerial shows the site really well (the waterfront parking lot in the middle, for those not familiar with the city):

To be fair, this was only an empty lot because the existing building was demolished to make way for this condo.

It's amazing that there are 2 bridges between Halifax and Dartmouth and yet we are still waiting for a second bridge between Windsor and Detroit.

Beautiful pictures of Halifax, thanks for sharing the link.

It's because in Halifax there wasn't some psycho winey rich old white man trying to monopolize the trade link between Canada and the United States. It was beneficial to both Halifax and Dartmouth, so we did it. I love Canada

That, or because one of their two links was a tunnel rather than a 2nd bridge.

Kind of, it was a huge parking pad for a small body shop at the north end of the site. Either way this is a big step up from what was once there.

This project is actually an improvement for this street in Longueuil! I would only live there if the Alfa Romeo in the render came with it.

2279 Rue McGill, Longueuil

I'm pretty sure that parking pad is a separate parcel. You can see it better here: http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/showthread....W-Lifetime-40s-Core)?p=685970#post685970

Anyway, it is indeed a step up for the area. I'm particularly happy about the office space being included in the podium. There will be a good mix of uses here.

Ah you're correct. That used to be Alice Fazoolis. Nothing lost that can't be replaced.

On the bright side, that parking lot and body shop when combined with the adjacent Hooter's property is the perfect size for another 40 storey tower.

EDMONTON - Key Edmonton philanthropists and businessmen are preparing to unveil plans for a new downtown arts campus and public plaza on Monday.

The plans call for a large, glass open-air atrium with a theatre and university arts campus just north of city hall, behind and beside the new Royal Alberta Museum.

Some great news in the St. John's section today:

And a few views of the proposal and its location:

This is a VERY significant proposal for us. They will be, by far, the tallest residential buildings in the PROVINCE.

They will be near the tallest in the city (tied for third place, I believe).

And they bring some much-needed density to the east end of St. John's, which is an entirely new area (built up beginning after Confederation for the most part).

these arn't the final designs lol it's just to show scale and height because it needs to be rezoned. That parking is already there and its all shared parking, I guess if you didn't know the area you wouldn't be able to picture it in context

also the road there is just a laneway for access to "tiffany village" which is what this whole area is, so the parking lot is also on a different elevation so you will not see if from any road or anywhere unless you are in the parking lot

Aww...

On the scale from Offensive to Tolerable Background Noise, where would rank it? Does it stand out as hideous, or not stand out at all, to you?
