That's why there aren't any cranes... It still has quite a bit of the mechanical stuff for the rest of the site, though. There were also rumors of Credit Suisse looking at having the tower built just for them.

On paper yes.

The basement levels are still going to be undergoing construction until the hub opens. So technically, construction on 2WTC may never actually stop, if we are including subterranean space.

It won't rise any further until there is a tenant.

I like how the semi-permanent fencing traces the outline of the future tower. I assume that if no tenants are secured, they'll finish up surface work and clean up the site, just leaving that fenced in area in wait...

I have a feeling that once ONE WTC is complete, leasing will really take off and that would eventually lead us to TWO WTC with a major lease for the next phase to begin.

I really hope this one gets built soon. I think besides 1WTC, this will by far have the most impact on the area. The sloped roof is what really catches my eye.

It will probably be the most distictive of the towers due to the sharp form given it's towering height.

Years ago, I had seen in one of the documentarys how the top this tower will act like a "sundial" on each Sept. 11th and allow a sliver of sun light to shine on the memorial....Does any one have a reference to that or did the design change since then? I saw it once and dont rember the name of the program.

Its been so long I can hardly rember what is going to be what on this project anymore.

I hope the ecconomy picks up again so I can see this one built.
Its my favorite design of the towers as well.

Patiently Waiting.......

So far there haven't really been any redesigns for this tower except for a cladding improvement which wouldn't have any effect on the sundial feature.

It's called "The Wedge of Light."

Couple YouTube videos from Rising, explaining this towers role in it, and the Transit Hall's role in it as well.

Honestly, this idea, of bringing the tower back, having the angle directed towards the memorial and all, is the most heart-warming and amazing part of this whole project. When I see the renderings of the whole complex, it makes a tear come to my eye to think of how much peace and serenity is thought about and planned towards these days instead of thinking about death, struggle and war. I look at these forums day in and day out and see arguments, complaining, bickering and it's understandable but this is sincerely the single greatest architectural design by a human ever. I give my complete and utmost respect for the men and women working on this site, the engineers and architects who designed the site, and of course my condolences to any family lost in this tragedy so many years ago. I absolutely love looking at this forum, thank you guys.

Thanks for bringing it up rack776! I never knew about this sundial feature. Very thought provoking.

That whole "wedge of light" thing has been debated about whether or not it will actually happen as intended. We'll see when it gets built.

Maintaining this feature will be the difference between a very good building and an exceptional building.

It will take several years for that to happen, but trust me, we will revisit this topic when the time arrives.

I probably will plan to be in the city to witness the wedge of light event to see for myself.

I highly doubt that.
