Also, Cards Against Humanity! Has anyone played that? I love it. Just ordered some and they should arrive in the next few days. You can also download it for free as a pdf and have it printed somewhere.

My girlfriend is here visiting me. We went to the liquor store and bought a lot of wine and beer, and then she went to bed. Sigh, just sitting on the couch watching futurama and drinking beer. May as well get a solid buzz on

Province may increase language options for driver's exams

Quote:
The Atlantic provinces are looking to change some of the written parts of the driver's exams to accommodate an increasing number of immigrants.

Service NL Minister Nick McGrath said his department is looking the possibility of adding new language options other than English and French.

"There's one of the Chinese dialects that's being considered, and the other two — I can't pronounce them."

The other two languages are Farsi and Arabic.

McGrath said the languages being considered were based on the current workforce in Atlantic Canada.

"You base it then on the amount of percentages of population that are there, and my understanding is that's where they chose close languages from."

He said it is still just a request for more information about the necessary process.

Ordered new camera stuff off eBay. New remote shutter trigger, bag, and proper professional tripod. Got the works for less than $200... so, we'll see if it's quality stuff.

The only thing I need on that list is a remote. Eventually I'll get a new tripod as well, but really, if it weren't windy as all hell here mine would be fine!

So, I picked up a Blackberry Z10 on Wednesday, and so far I'm incredibly impressed with the phone. I love the OS, I love the look, I love the quality... but I have one major issue. I HATE the battery. It is god awful.

I don't know if maybe I have too much stuff turned on, but I CAN'T make it through the day. I just flicked off the NFC, Bluetooth, and WiFi, to do a bit of a battery test and see how it works. None the less, I unplugged my phone at 7:40 this morning from an overnight charge at 100%, and by 11:00 with everything on I was down around 40%. Hopefully with everything off I can last the day.

Anyway, I have to do some more testing and see if maybe my batter is a dud (I'm seeing people claiming that with frequent use they are making it through a day and into the next morning, claiming the battery is more powerful than the iPhone 5 battery, etc) or if the battery is actually this crappy.

I'd be very disappointed if such a fun phone to use has such limits on what you can do without needing to charge.

That —.

You're sure you've turned off all the apps you're not using with the task manager equivalent? Maybe it's different for the BBOS.

Yeah, the easy display of opened apps makes it clear what's on and what's not. Since I've turned off NFC (which I didn't realize was on) the battery life hasn't moved (in about an hour). Its possible that was constantly trying to establish communication with something, and draining the battery, and I started raging too fast. Still though, if I was someone who wanted that, Bluetooth, and WiFi on all at once, I would be rattled with how fast its draining.

I'll know better over the weekend how it holds up. I can't say enough great things about the OS once you get used to it, but damn. Battery, what are ya doing to me over here?

Nice. I may try BB next time.

My first smartphone was an iPhone, and I had no complaints. My second has been an Android. I don't need to do all the — that people who rave about Android like it for... so it's basically like an iPhone for me. But with some awkward, Apple patent-induced, non-intuitive OS quirks.

I'm definitely open to giving BlackBerry a try next.

Apparently its like this for the first little bit? Hopefully this guy is right. If two weeks come and nothing is changed I may be a little angrier.

WiFi and bluetooth are usually big battery hogs. I'm an Android user and this may not affect BB but I also turn off auto-syncing for email, Facebook, and Twitter; I find it saves some battery life. Also, I heard that LTE network drains phone batteries quickly. I can't confirm this as my phone is non-LTE.
