I think that's why I'll miss it. It's cute and fits as one of those old-style neighborhood markets.

Flying J is moving from Ogden to downtown Salt Lake. They just purchased the building on the corner of 2nd and State. They are only going to have about 30 employees working at the building there, but it is 30 more people working downtown than before.

How's the state street housing development coming along? Heard about a week ago that steel beams are now rising out of the hole. Haven't been downtown in awhile due to being too busy. ( that should be a sin ) any pics? Since the courthouse and PSB projects are about finish and we're still waiting to hear more on the PAC and CC hotel projects I think the state street development is my favorite for the time being.

I took at peek at the State Street site this morning. There is steel going in, but it hasn't reached street level yet. There's still a lot of foundation work being done.

The project on State Street has been seriously delayed but apparently they're back on track. The severe cold matched with some utility issues that were discovered set them back a while.

Looks like 222 is filling up more. I have noticed that they have been moving more people into the building. It looks like only 2 floors are left unoccupied now instead of 3.

That's always good to hear regarding 222. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the upcoming UPAC Tower. One, that it will be an imaginative, progressive design and that it will be on the taller side.

Yes, and also it will get built a lot sooner due to office demand.

With the UPAC Tower, we do know that the architect for the tower is working with the architect for the UPAC. I think this would mean that they are probably going to go up near the same time. Especially seeing as how occupancy rates in downtown are decreasing.

If the County and the State can finish their work towards incentives for the Convention Hotel, next year could see the return to larger cranes in the downtown area.

The gym I frequent every morning is just a block away from the historic Wiltern Theater and Tower. I couldn't help but think
of the upcoming UPAC Tower and Theater as I walked past the Wiltern this morning. I thought... cool, this tower and
shared theater lobby is a tried and proven prinicipal. Hmm, let's see if I can find a pic of the Wiltern. It's a very cool Deco
style.

The theater sits on the corner of Wilshire and Western. I like the way the lobby entrance and marquee engage the corner.

Not sure if this was already posted, but just a heads up.

300 East in Salt Lake City to close for improvements
By KSL.com

SALT LAKE CITY — In conjunction with the construction of the city's new Public Safety Building, 300 East will be temporarily closed between 400 and 500 South from March 1 to May 29 for major improvements.

Residents and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes during that time.

Scheduled improvements include the installation of public art on the corner of 300 East and 500 South. Also, 300 East will be narrowed to one lane in each direction, and bike lanes will be added in each direction. A mid-street island will be added for future festivals and events.

The more of that the better. But isn't it already that way, minus the island part?

Wow, what a awesome photo of downtown and the rest of the valley Comrade. I think I might just found a new desk top as long as who ever took that won't mind. Thanks for sharing.

From what I think UtahPlanner explained, the La Porte Project had been significantly delayed because of colder than
normal temps and unforseen utility challenges? However, I guess things are back on track.

Great Pics T-Mac. From this particular pic we really get an excellent idea of the final treatment on the glass. I'm am
super stoked now that I see more of it. I think it's going to be both visually stunning and unique for Salt Lake's
portfolio.

Here in L.A. there's a Federal Courthouse of almost identical massing. The finish though is simply an opaqueish kind of
dated glass. This version in Salt Lake is a huge improvement.

Here's a pic of the courthouse I was talking about. Actually, the pic is a bit flattering.
