It was built as a monument for Canadian sailors who were killed in World War I. It was constructed between 1919 and 1922. You are able to climb to the top for a view.

I saw that and while it was a cool program, I found it a little off in their portrayal of Toronto as a frozen city that is covered in ice and snow during the entire winter, which is obviously not true at all. Toronto winters are very mild and relatively snowless by Canadian standards.

Agreed. They should have shown the 90degree summers too haha. When I was there in 2011 for a week the daytime temps didnt go below 85-90
