I've seen male prostitutes as well as the occasional dealer hanging out behind Peachtree Lofts and Ecco down toward the Marta station but never directly in front of Plaza. Then again my time around there is usually limited to hours that Publix is open so maybe things happen late at night. I lived in the area since '08 but I think it's gotten a bit better over time.

They might just look better. Seriously, I just got back from a week in LA. And the best-looking people I saw, on the trip, were in Atlanta.

Talk about a place that was walloped as hard or harder than we were during the recession that is now BOOMING, L.A. is coming back - fast!

Are you still moving out there from Orlando, Dale? I assume you flew - too bad you couldn't see the massive amount of infill going on here. It's getting very impressive.

Anyone know what project this construction site is?

Cause if its residential... It should end up being literally on the beltline...

I have found a place, in Pasadena, but it's a short-term fix. I've also been offered a couple of jobs, but they're commissions only. so, I'm reluctant, at this time, to pull the trigger.

Meanwhile, Charlotte is STRONGLY bad in the mix.

Oh, I rented a car out there and drove all over the place. And you're right, it's EXPLODING with infill. I was particularly impressed with downtown, Hollywood and Santa Monica.

On the flipside, my sister lives out there. And she wants to move to Atlanta. She says Atlanta's "gorgeous."

One thing that a week in LA did for me: exciting as LA is, it gave me a renewed appreciation for the infrastructure in both ATL and Orlando. LAX is a dump. And the roads and signage are ABYSMAL.

Typically Cypress, about a block from the Marta station. They are very obvious. You can see them on the corner where Ecco is located. I knew a worker at the restaurant, and they told me last year the complaints they would receive.

Piedmont Park Expansion Construction Resumes

“The current “North Piedmont Park” construction is taking place near the Piedmont Road and Monroe Drive intersection on 12.5 acres where previously new pathways and walking bridges had been installed.”

Yeah, my L.A. friends that have been to Atlanta call it "the promised land." They say it's a combination of beauty, ease of getting around (LOL!) and cost of living. They are always blown away with Hartsfield-Jackson too.

Good luck with whatever you decide on. If I were ever to leave here, L.A. is where I would end up.

SO nice to see the Park finally reaching Ansley - it's been a long time coming.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted. And whatever my criticisms of LA, rest assured that I found it exhilarating.

Nice thing for me is that even if I end up in Charlotte, LA will always be a cheap vacation for me since my sister lives there.

Maybe you're just overstimulated.

Aside from that, nothing is more hip these days than jobs and affordable cost-of-living.

LA is showing its age. If you want new or newly rebuilt freeways, head down to OC. Nevertheless, the size and scale of the city is pretty staggering. It is after all, the original sunbelt giant. And quite honestly, once the new Tom Bradley Terminal project is complete at LAX, it'll be quite nice to fly internationally from there.

I will say that your sister may want to move back after just one pollen season.

Well, LA can certainly be forgiven for being so populous. It's aging roads have no doubt taken a prodigious pounding.

I think Sis is set in LA. I think ATL is more of a yearning for her.

Ditto! One of my favorite couples I've ever known live in Topanga Canyon, and there's a spare room with my name on it. TC is basically a hippie Mayberry in the middle of L.A. County - 15 minutes to Malibu, 20 to either Santa Monica or Warner Center. It's the best of both worlds, and reason enough to go tomorrow if I could pull it off. My job is portable, but I would eventually want my own place and those are hard to come by in that part of town without having to have a roommate.

Excuses, excuses.

Hardly. Charlotte is a nice place, and it's Atlanta 20-25 years ago. They've done a fantistic job building the city up. There are certain things Charlotte does a hell of a lot better than places much larger.

I can tell you this: prices are so high, out in LA, that damn near everyone is renting rooms. A dollar doesn't go far out there. Obviously people pay for the privilege of living there.

Bonus: auto insurers can't charge more than $350 annually if your income does not exceed 250% of poverty rate. So, it's a great place to live if you're: (A) rich (B) poor.
