Maybe it was all the buzz we were generating regarding last night's public meeting for the proposed Hilton Garden Inn hotel. BTW, the meeting went very well... and SignalHillHiker was interviewed. Check out the Steel-toe boot thread in the St. John's sub-forum.

It’s still more than five months away, but already people are abuzz with talk of the 2013 Salmon Festival. Now that the dates are known, the only question left to ask is what acts will rock Centennial Field this year.
Wednesday, the day after the town of Grand Falls-Windsor announced on its website the 2013 Salmon Festival will take place on July 11-15, it was confirmed the big concert will be held Saturday, July 13. That follows past practice.
The central town’s summer festival includes events like the salmon dinner and kitchen party, as well as the daylong concert that, in recent years, has been drawing record numbers of fans from across the province.
While the promoters, SRO Entertainment, and the town administration have remained silent on which acts might grace the stage at Centennial Field, it hasn’t stopped rumours from flying. A popular Atlantic Canadian concert news and announcement site, atlanticcanadarocks.ca, tweeted on Tuesday that The Eagles, Nicki Minaj and Maroon 5 would be playing in Newfoundland on July 13. This year’s concert follows two record-breaking years for the event. More than 25,000 fans came to the town in 2012 to take in performances by Aerosmith, Flo Rida, and Carly Rae Jepsen, among others. In 2011, a concert by Kiss was credited with turning around the event.
I saw Pitbull in St. John's and he is a very good entertainer live! nice addition
I kind of want to visit the Maritimes again. My parents went last summer. They bought a convertible (out of character for them, x10) and did the Cabot Trail/Annapolis Valley. They LOVED it.
Both were still thrilled to come home, but they had a blast. And my mother, especially, is VERY urban. She goes to NYC on a whim like they invited her, ha! And it makes me want to go and take pictures and look around.
Maybe that's what I'll do this summer. Take the car and drive over. Not the convertible, of course. I'm curious to find the house I lived in, in Moncton. Is it still there? I can't even remember where it was, except that it was very short walking distance to where the rail bridge crossed Main.

I need to get to Newfoundland at some point in the future, too. It's been too long. I might be moving to Ottawa in a few weeks so it seems like an NFLD trip will have to wait.
