I've seen it full before. It's certainly a boon to Grand St.

One of my favorites on Broadway.

Figaros ugly patio seating. BUT - they were busier than I've ever seen them for lunch.

Cliftons work finally becoming visible

These beautiful news stands on Broadway class the place up.

Somebody call Darrel Gates! The unmitigated GALL of them to sell newspapers and magazines on the sidewalk to those that want them. Society is crumbling before our very eyes.

Also, as part of the Broadway Streetscape plan, there will be built new newspaper vendor stands.

EDIT: Jesus, that's a terribly constructed sentence.

I think a lot of us are exited about the progression that is currently taking place in DTLA. This forum is designed for the public to discuss, post, and monitor the activities of current projects. With that said, I get sarcasm, but some of your posts are borderline racist. If you don't like to be amongst "brown" people...move somewhere else. Its pathetic and SAD that in a city as multi-cultural as L.A. people like yourself are allowed to post on this forum.

Well I'm making sure that I call you out.

Aside from that, I'm really happy with DTLA.

And I fully support that.

Anybody who thinks a nice built-in newspaper stand is the same thing as these things is out to lunch though. ThreeHundred don't let your personal issues with me get in the way of seeing that.

I said before that Spring St should ditch street parking entirely and widen their sidewalk. There are several sections where I just step into the street and walk there.

Can't wait for this diner to open back up (larger than before).

Beautiful Rowan (pre Spring St Park). If the building in right of frame really gets turned into a hotel, Historic Core will be seriously hopping. Specially North of 6th which needs it.

No work looks to have been done on the Alexandria Annex. Did they have a timeline?

Chester Williams continues to do an outstanding restoration job.

Future Walgreens in bottom of Chester Williams

A scar on the center of downtown

6th & Grand intersection hoppin.

We need more of these guys on every corner. Specifically towards historic core..

View down Fig from 7th.

Target was packed.

Been here for a few days now in front of Apex.

View down Francisco Street from 9th.

Don't ever pay over $5 for parking in downtown.

Marriot Construction

I parked all day for $4 while there a couple of weeks ago. Looks like I dodged a bullet on gas prices though. It was around $3.80 then.

Yeah, gas prices have gone up substantially. Thankfully I don't drive much anymore.

HunterK just wants DTLA to undergo gentrification to a certain degree and is just more vocal about it, never afraid to be politically incorrect. The fact is, the "brown people" represent the type of place we want DTLA to get away from. There, I said.

Speak for yourself.

Downtown is big enough for people of a variety of income brackets, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, etc. In a city where Latino culture is pretty much ubiquitous, I don't see why we want to steer away from it. It's part of what makes our city unique.

Who said it wasn't?

Although I think projects like 888 Olive, 8th/Hope, 8th/Grand, etc. won't do anything to promote "diversity." You support those projects, no?

I got it and thought that your sarcasm was funny because that newsstand does look like crap. But honestly when we're at the point when that's the most important thing to worry about, then I'll be happy. Until then, there's lots more crappy stuff around than that.

You call it "politically incorrect", I call it blatantly racist. There, now I said it.

Agreed. I'm making more of an effort to take photos of everything in downtown that I dislike / needs to change, because I believe it will all evolve soon. I almost started taking pics of all the vacant retail the other day.. But it started to get really depressing and I didn't want to bring down the mood of the thread. Gotta keep it positive.

I'm not as extreme as HunterK. I have no desire for DTLA to resemble Santa Monica.

That being said, there's a fine line between a place having lots of Martians and the place feeling like Mars itself.

I don't want swap meets lining one of LA's oldest and most architecturally significant corridors. I think it deserves better than that. What's the problem? Do you not agree?
