Or maybe I'm just really impatient haha! Feel better Jeddy. I had the flu last week, just getting over it now. It's not fun!

I know an interesting development that may start seeing some publicity by mid-March. Depends how fast things get moving.

I'd say there is lots of stuff in the works, my guess is just that most of it is under-wraps as planning takes place in the winter and before Spring we'll have a HUGE surge of information.

I agree - winter (especially early winter) always seems to be a slow time for new developments being brought to public's attention. I'd say there are some in the works and it's too early in the game to go public.

And you'd be correct when saying that!

Patients gentlemen. I promise you projects this year.

Had my first pennyless cash transaction this morning. Was great to just get back a loonie without 2 useless pennies.

At first I was like "wait now, this isn't the right change, she said 13.98, why am i only getting a loonie." Then saw the sign on the counter and remembered. haha

I'll be the last to notice any difference. I don't think I've used cash yet in 2013.

"That's $3.50, you say? Visa please!"

Should St. John's have a winter festival? Mt. Pearl has one and I'm pretty sure Paradise does something too. I am not aware of any sort of Winter Festival in St. John's. There are so many festivals in the summer, I think it's time we have something in the winter. Thoughts?

^Sure, we need a reason to be excited about winter. Lord knows it's sad enough as it is.

Speaking of which, is everyone ready for the blizzard? The plant I work at is shutting down overnight, but someone has to babysit our reactors to make sure everything is okay/go into emergency make sure everything is okay if the electricity goes mode. THANKFULLY that person isn't me, lord knows I wouldn't know what to do with a shift that lasts over 24 hours.

The blizzard actually hasn't created much of a buzz around here this time around. People know there is a storm coming, but it's not a major topic of "small-talk" and the media hasn't blown it way out of proportion this time. (IMO)

We're supposed to get 25cm and some rain. so, messy but not too bad by our standards!

Nice. People are gone apeshit here. It's actually pretty bad out right now so I understand maybe. I picked up a half case of Granville Lions Winter Ale and I'll probably spend the rest of the day trying to get a 96-star finish on Super Mario World

Aw, lucky! You can get Granville Island stuff in Charlottetown but we can't here? You can probably find Big Rock there too? The only good 'import' Canadian beer in NL right now is Mill St's Tankhouse Ale (probably the hoppiest beer available here, too, even though it's not an IPA). I don't know why they stopped bringing in Big Rock; they did only have Trad and Grasshopper but it was enough to cure a few nights of homesickness.

There definitely is a better variety of beer here than back in NL. By the way, the Lions winter ale was GREAT. I tried one last night, there was definitely a nice after taste of vanilla. It wasn't overpowering like say a Miller Chill, it actually still tastes like beer. Excellent brew, I feel like I should stock up.

And yeah, we have Big Rock Traditional and Grasshopper. I haven't tried either (yet), though when I saw grasshopper back in NL I was almost tempted to get it, especially after hearing about how great it was.

Speaking of homesick, as great at these western beers are I'd kill a man for a nice QV or Yellowbelly brew right about now

Big Rock Trad is a fine drinking beer; fairly typical English-style brown ale. Honestly, Grasshopper is usually what the girlfriends drink (though it is quite nice). I wish BR would ship more of their catalogue across the country. They have some great brews that are very hard to find outside of the Calgary area.

I'm surprised you can't get QV stuff there. I've seen it quite often in Calgary even. It's not my favourite, but I do enjoy most YB beer.

Aww. You'll be back soon enough. And Calgary will be EVEN COOLER! As will you - for having joined us for a while. lol

Hey all,

A random question to fill the doldrums between new projects.

Ok, Here goes. If you could bring one thing to downtown St. John's what would it be? One service or retail or feature anything. What would you most like to see added to downtown?

After yesterday, a stationery store!

Or a BK for when I'm drunk in the middle of the night and want a cheap, greasy burger instead of poutine.

Or, best idea yet, a specialty beer store with a great selection of imported beer and North American microbrews!

Yeah... that one.
