I think it's hilarious that those deep playoff runs are considered some kind of "glory years" to Leafs fans. I remember Toronto had a parade in at least one of those years (they finished 7th in the conference that year).

Leafs fans are so starved to celebrate something that they seem to celebrate anything.

It's all relative though. They made the conference finals 4 times, but having not made it to the big show is tough to swallow. Also, all other Canadian teams except Winnipeg (which wasn't around then) have made it to the conference finals since the last time Toronto did it.... and all but Montreal have made it to the cup.

I've heard people from Winnipeg make that claim, but never from anyone outside of Winnipeg

The Oilers would be an interesting case. They did have Gretzky and Messier when they were in the WHA, but drafted the rest (Anderson, Lowe, Fuhr, Coffey and Kurri) from the NHL draft. Messier and Gretzky would become superstars, but would they have stayed in the WHA? Would Messier or Gretzky have become the players they did playing with lesser talent? I guess we'll never know.

Although Messier did play in the WHA I don't believe it was ever with Edmonton. First year with the Oilers was 79-80 (drafted 3rd round in 79)

I think Ryan White just played his last game with the Montreal Canadiens and possibly in the NHL!!!

We're on our way to a 7-3 record when White decides to fuck everything up... is this guy mentally challenged or what?

What Therrien had to say when asked about White after the game...

"First time, we talked to him. Second time, we sent a message, third time...........he BETTER UNDERSTAND."

"We thought it was a good time to bring Ryan White back to the lineup... it was a bad decision."

Also the tying goal with 2 seconds left should have never counted so there is your payback for the Ottawa game.

Ryan White is DIRECTLY responsable for 2 of our losses this season.

Yup. Jets lost. And rightfully so. Congrats on the win Loafs. But it doesn't detract from my point. Your team is still 47 years cupless and still falling. Once they win the cup, then I won't rag on you anymore. Until then, you are still a garbage team with a annoying hot garbage fanbase.

Nice to see Calgary pick up another win. Calgary heavily outplayed Columbus but still needed OT to get the win. The good news is that the Flames were 4-17-3 in that building before tonight, so I'll take a win even if in OT.

He played for Indianapolis for one season iirc.

Lost White's stupidity is the fact Markov and Subban are beasts!!!

We're FINALLY seeing both in the lineup and so far we, Habs fans, have not been disappointed.

Markov: 10 pts in 10 games
Subban: 4 pts in 4 games

With Markov-Subban we have arguably the best D pair in the league tied with the Blues (Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk).

Go ahead and name a D pair better than this... Enstrom and Buff are good but not as solid defensively.

The other teams with an elite D (Chara and Karlsson for example) do not have a #2 D as good as PK (who is playing great btw).

Our record is pretty good and the strength at the blue line has been a big reason why.

PK had the most penalty minutes for the Habs last season, all because of players being able to easily get around him and he had to use his stick or arms to slow them down, tripping, hooking and holding calls galore... This is early and Montreal has only played two some what solid teams in Boston and Ottawa. Boston didn't even play till the third period, just wait till the play the rangers , penguins with there size and skill will dominate the small Habs players. Then there is Tampa bay, who can match the Habs speed and also have big forwards.. Even the maple laughs could be a team that gives te Canadians some trouble this year, if Reimer keeps up his play the leafs can beat the Habs with there size.

Speed doesn't win you a cup, we learned that last year, NJ small in size couldn't handle the size of the la kings. Also "Michelle" your coach.. He needs an attitude adjustment, he acts as if he is the greatest coach to walk the earth.... The teams that win are the ones go compete but are also having fun on and off the ice and , he doesn't seem to like the players having much fun or enjoyment...

Teams just need to keep to forwards high covering the defence and there goes the Habs scoring in the zone and when heading to the offensive zone, send two forward in and keep 3 back and Montreal can't use there cherry picking technique where they stand two players at the opposing teams blue line.
