The Wilshire Grand looks beautiful. I can't wait to see construction begin. So many good things going on right now! I'm also very impressed with the Spring Street parklet, it will really contribute to the vibrancy of that already very pedestrian area.

Wow, that makes my heart skip a beat. The pool will be amazing. And I think aiming for luxury retail is the right move, they might score it with this.

FYI, the roof isn't flat (obviously) but it does still have a helipad. You can notice a small square pad to the west of the spire.

The old building will be down to street level by June.

Floors 10-30 will be office. Above that will be the hotel.

The lobby will be on the 70th floor. A restaurant will be on floor 71. A rooftop pool and bar will be on the 72nd floor.

Looks like your source was right about it being 1100 feet!

Yeah, strange design. Could it have anything to do with advertisement?

Anyways, love this building from the bottom to the top. I'm hoping there is some sort of observation deck.

This new design for The Wilshire Grand is a vast improvement over the old design with 2 towers imo, it definitely looks stunning. For some reason though, I still prefer The US Bank Tower as LA's signature tower. I don't think it's fair to credit the spire much like NY's BoA tower, it's mainly just a stick installed on top, what's the purpose? Spires only look fitting when the roof is triangular but even then there should be a cutoff, maybe 50 ft., a spire taller than 100 ft. is very misleading. I also never got why antennas are discredited compared to spires. Does anyone know if the light display on the old design is still a planned feature on this new one? The night time rendering doesn't show it so I'm afraid they scrapped that idea.

Well, for those of you who favor Library Tower-prominence, rest easy. This isn't REALLY a new tallest. And the skyline rendering tells the tale.

I think it's a nice complement to Library Tower.

I like the spire. If you extended the curved face of the building further upward, it would meet the spire somewhere near the top, like so:

I don't know if that's what they were going for or what, but that's the line that my eye sees because of the spire.

Hey Dirt, finally you'll have a place, nearby, to grab a Snickers, when you get the late-night munchies.

Such an amazing design from top to bottom. I can't stop looking at these renderings! Our beloved city will going through some radical changes in the next 5-10 years. It will be a completely different central core.

I can kind of see that in the rendering, because the fin is slightly rounded out it can look like a mohawk that got half of it shaved off just missing the very last tip, Alfalfa style lol. I like the fin and the crossbar sections, it escapes it from looking a bit monotonous, not that it would look bad without it. Does anyone know the answer regarding the light display that was intended on the past version if they still plan to keep it?

This is big news. Definitely a game changer for DTLA, and a huge boost to our civic ego. I can't recall the last time we got something this daring and utterly first class, and on this kind of scale, to boot!

So, did anyone here attend the meeting?

Edit: Here's a blurry photo of the event.
