I had no idea Shanghai Tower was that far along.

The development of Pudong is insane. Do all the enormous 1400+ buildings have full tenants or is it like Dubai where they're half empty?

I said the closest cluster, as in, 3 on one plot of land. Dubai obviously has more, just nowhere near as closely clustered, so obviously it won't be taking that "crown".

They don't have numerous 1400+ buildings, they only have 2 currently with a 3rd on the way. I'm pretty sure the Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center are mostly leased. No idea about Shanghai Tower though.

^ The SWFC and Jin Mao are pretty full, though I'm sure there's space available for lease in both buildings.

Chadillaccc, just to clarify, the pollution levels in Shanghai have been about 10x above what is considered normal. Still absolutely terrible, but not nearly 30x.

We finally have good air quality at the moment, but it took a blast of Siberian air to clean it out. So frickin' cold right now.

China is just still undergoing industrialization like the US and Canada about a century ago. Pollution is really not as easy to avoid as you guys think, especially for a developing country like China. However, resources are too concentrated in big metropolises like Beijing and Shanghai. That being said, you would basically only wanna visit big cities and that's it. :p

You've vastly under estimating people's interest in the China beyond the big cities. Quite the contrary, many want to see it before that way of life vanishes forever. It's the rural areas where one can still get a glimpse into a China that has stayed the same for centuries.

Likewise, places like Montreal and Vancouver are a big draw but the 'Canadian way of life' is best viewed in the small towns/rural areas that are less touched by globalization.

I heard China is investing heavily in solar. Is this true?

I was talking generally. Because from what I've seen, most people only care to visit those big places.
Due to the rural and urban segregation policy in China, cities attract most resources from the surrounding areas, especially like the capital cities of each province.
Political factors are the key for a city's development in China.
And small towns and countryside are very poor, in some areas, roads are not even paved.

Yes. But somehow those new energy have been fallen into bankruptcy crisis recently.
One problem is that they have produced so much solar energy, but nobody buys it.

That will change soon as people will start to realize than a couple extra bucks is worth it for clean air. Pollution masks.......really? That is definitely not a solution. Some dude is selling them now in china.

is that true? half empty? all of them? i find that hard to believe. but stranger things have happened. lol i myself would need proof. i think i will do some research for myself on that one. one cant just believe everything one hears on the internet you know, with all the questionable sources and all.

I've been there, and most of them were leased. It's not that hard to believe since they simply throw all the businesses in Shanghai and Beijing.
