Best Buy and Future Shop are loosing due to the following online services

Electronics - Amazon, Tiger Direct, New Egg, E-bay, etc

Games - Steam, Origin, Gamefly, Windows live and X-box marketplace

Video - Netflix , Hulu, Amazon, iTunes, Zune, etc

Appliances - (anything)

Music - iTunes, Amazon, Zune, Indies

It always struck me as kind of odd that Future Shop and Best Buy were selling home appliances from refrigerators to coffee machines. When I bought a new tv last year I bought local; the staff seemed to know a lot more than the big box store people and I got a way better deal.

I should clarify that. Anything, also includes any local retail.

I know from another forum I frequent that is geared towards the home garage type crowd there have been some very upset people in recent years about the quality and warranty claims regarding Craftsman tools. Hopefully Sears can get their house in order, maybe bump up quality at reasonable increase and differentiate themselves from the poorly made overseas disposable consumer goods that we seem to be inundated with.

The corner of broad and 4th is not what I would call a nice neighbourhood for condos.

Originally it was going to be built in Harbour Landing but I have since heard that they lease was too high and that they had decided to locate elsewhere. They were being secretive with the new location however.

I had hoped they would locate somewhere closer to downtown myself...

It seems to have been built in 1915 (Wikipedia), which would mean it would have been massive compared to anything else in the city. That would also make it too early for Art Deco. Likely influenced from the Chicago Warehouse style, as were most of the nicer warehouses in the district. Also, after a quick skim of the cities website I don't see it listed as a heritage site on any level. That is incredible...

Thats pretty much what I figured - someone should send a memo to the folks working at the current downtown retail location to let them know that they were phased out several years ago.

Haha, wanna bet? I am sure the city would be more than willing to bend over for some developer who would want to tear it down and put up some ugly stucco strip mall! Cuz any kind of development is good development

Regina building permits and construction off too a good start in 2013. Month of January out performed last year's january but only slightly!! Good news is that the ball is still rolling in Regina.
