He Doesn't want to be hotlinked... hence why he embed his images in flash so you can't just steal the url and hotlink them... hence why you had to screen shot it and then host in that image on your photobucket.

^do you know him? is that the case?

Either way, whatever, but it was not done with intent to not credit the images.

Yeah people get really vagina-bleedy about that here. Simple mistake, just wanted to show something beautiful, move on.

I agree. Yes there are rules but many don't seem to understand actual internet copywrite laws. Pretty much if you post anything online it becomes public domain. As long as you give credit by name or link that is more then enough. Photographers that don't want their images used usually don't put them online for the whole world to have access to.

If the publisher wants to they can easily find out where their image has been linked to and ask for it to be removed. the only true No No would be screen grabbing and posting the image. Still, nobody is going to get sued, no website wil be shut down, and nobody is going to jail.

Coldsrx, thanks for posting the images btw.

A tip, you can usually just google a photographer and find their image there.

feepa, sure, if somebody wants to use some of my work I don't properly watermark they can feel free to use it without giving me credit. In fact I would like that and do like that when it happens. The CBC, the Star, and The Globe have all used images of mine with only one giving me credit. That's pretty much when I found out truly how internet laws work around images posted online and before I started doing commercial work myself.

Now now, everybody. Let's just put our tampons back in and take our little pink pills. Everything will be alright.

I agree.

Hey feepa, I get your point. Don't think though that by me saying the internet is public domain means it's fine to go ahead and use any content you find and do what you like with it. I was just trying to say that photographers, artists, and others need to take the correct steps to protect their property. I appreciate how this site for the most part goes above and beyond what needs to be done when crediting images.

The 'Blue Edmonton Universe' and 'Edmonton Universe' (blue and brown versions of the downtown scenes of Edmonton) are mine. Is all this hoopla that I am catching up on about these images? If so, I thought I'd add my two cents if that's alright.

Yes, the internet is a touchy area and yes, my images have been ripped off. In South Africa, they found my images on the internet, removed my watermark and made funky t-shirts and sold them in the Johannesburg airport (believe it or not). Coincidentally, my wife and I were in that airport and my wife innocently bought me one of those t-shirts. What are the odds...That one pissed me off in a big way. I can't speak for other photographers, but I personally don't mind someone posting a low res pic of mine as long as there is a link to my website and he/she isn't profiting from my work without money going to me.

Yes, I do expect my images to be used and posted throughout the internet and providing my website address accompanies them, I have absolutely no problem with that as it is free advertising for me and helps to increase my search engine rankings in some cases.

I do have a lot of respect for this forum and how seriously people are taking copyright images. That is great to see.

Just for the record, here's my site http://www.harveywildlifephotography.ca if anyone likes any of the pictures and would like to post them on their sites or forums, send me an email. I will be more than happy to send you a pic for your site providing that my website address is credited to the picture.

-Just one photographer's view on his images on the internet.

Also, we must start a campaign to have them thusly renamed:
