I'm guessing no (why would they show them empty in the render), but the effect of that glass is such:

^ 8th and Grand will have retail on the bottom. It would be foolish not to in that area.

Moreover, day time renderings clearly show retail.

They are definitely working on the Clark Hotel, just at a snails pace. I live very close to there and I often see work crews coming and going. Not a ton of people, but they are definitely there. No external work as far as I can tell though.

Walked by 8th and Grand today. The entire lot is fenced off (though there were some cars parked) but they already started stripping away some asphalt on the Olive Street side. Also taped to some of the trees were noticed of tree removal and sidewalk improvement. Looks like 8th and Grand is nearing construction.

Brigham has a new post up on his blog about the new Ross Dress for Loss store on Broadway slated to open in the spring. Here are some photos he took of the newly restored facade. It looks great. Thanks Brigham!

The restoration looks great but that sign... man. That's an ugly sign. Couldn't use something a little more historically sensitive?

NOOOOOOOO!!!! I swear everytime I see this picture it really makes me sad...It makes DT look like a truly world-class Downtown area, Imagine coming into DT @ night on the Gold Line around Chinatown & seeing this view of the new courthouse as well as the new 6th St Bridge. This definitely wouldve been a visual landmark and wouldve gradually brought the eye down from Bunker Hill to the lower structures of Civic center, Perfect Symmetry. Lost opportunity

yea that rendering got me excited too, it seemed that building would have been a pretty cool step in the right direction towards making DT LA appear even more unique and outside the box but instead we're handed yet another squared/box like building . . .

The federal government owns the land, and chose the design. What can Huizar do?

I guess those transparent boxes are stand-ins for the Grand Ave. project?

I saw that too the other day, but hesitated to post it here, fearing I might be rehashing month-old news.

Sorry for the poor quality. I had to use my crappy camera phone. As you can see, there's a tractor there and no cars.

Also, Ava Little Tokyo

Wilshire Grand from the Francisco side.

Whoa. I did not see a tractor there yesterday. Nice catch!
