to clear this up a little...i have been working for about a year on what would have been the project of my career.....it was heading into the final phases and got yanked away.....it still may happen at a smaller scale, but i will not be involved personally anymore...which is why i still cant talk about it.....sometimes clients can be pretty heartless....it was a project that would have been a game changer for the city and for me personally....the emotional involvement and number of summer weekends i donated to them kind of upsets me now.....like the worst lap dance of my life.
its more of a personal disappointment than anything...imagine investing yourself emotionally for that long into something that your grand children would be proud of, only to have it pulled from under you at the last moment.
i probably shouldn't have even hinted at it, but it was such an exciting opportunity.

man that sucks. real sorry to hear about that...nothing wrong with hinting at it or anything; you were justified to be excited about the project. It was out of your control what happened, and im sure you'll have another client in the future who will come forth with a development that will eclipse this one.
My impression is Winnipeg is just getting rolling, and given how cities historically develop around the "million" population mark, combined with steady certifiable growth, it wouldn't surprise me to see another "boom" once the current phase of large-scale developments ends.
Many of us understand what its like to have such investment on all sorts of levels into something only to end up disappointed but you no doubt gained some valuable insights into the potential of what could be built, and you no doubt gained some experience that would have not been gained elsewhere.
Hopefully one day you'll be able to share more specific details on this project (if it does indeed completely collapse and you are able to talk about it) since it would be interesting to see what it was. By then though, I'm sure we'll have many a great things around the corner.
