again, I have no idea if those drawings were even commissioned by the current owner of the St Charles. Several firms seem do "what if" renderings that don't appear to be official proposals. I have seen several re-development proposals for the old HI building as well and that building is still for sale.

Regarding CMHR, I also hope they "beam" light out of the top. Think Luxor in vegas.

The preview video and ads on tv certainly give one the impression it will have the ability to do that (and it looks like some really cool lighting going on overall too)

We may have to wait a while, as the interior work gets finalized, before we see if it actually ends up like that or not.

the Albert side looks pretty good, but the massive garage door and parking on Notre Dame is awful and should never be allowed. Hopefully we'll know more about the future of the building soon.

It took me a few looks at this, but in case anyone else had trouble deciphering, I think the first image below which says south/ east elevation is the east elevation (Albert St)...

IMO the Albert frontage is a huge improvement from the old proposal which had parking fronting the public street, but the notre dame side isn't great for the streetscape. It'd be great to find a way to complete the street wall on that side.

Also, who knows how serious this proposal is. I will check into.

^^ Must be fairly recent. When did the Albert block burn down?

I imagine it's cheaper to commission a few drawings than to comply with the City bylaw

It might be a proposal submission by Voitec. I was under the assumption another firm had the work, but sometimes these things change.

I like it, but as we all know, most renderings never look as they do, case in question that eyesore on Main. And that was goverment money no less.

I like the old and new style, but I think I would like more of the style of the Glass House over the old St Charles, but please NO FAUX 🞵🞵🞵🞵, like that parkade beside the Grain exchange. And it would be nice if the newer part was say 8 feet stepped back, so you can have per say an outdoor patio, or even some gardens. Just to freshen up concrete.

But maybe someone else will come up with another idea.

According to the Free Press 62M (The spaceship condo) has now approved all its financing and they are in the process of aquiring the permits.
