I wish they'd get rid of that dumb British Columbia logo. Otherwise looks pretty promising.

Why would they paint them before the scheduled rebuild?

Are they painting or just applying a vinyl film?

I wonder how adopting the same paint theme will affect advert revenues. The MKIs are often plastered with ads, but never are the MKIIs. Will this new scheme preclude future advertising on MKIs?

It's probably a drop in the bucket in terms of how it'll affect their ad revenues.

Thanks
Looks just like the new MKII livery.
Would have been nice if it were special for the MKIs

It's nice, but the bottom line is inside those cars it's cramped! What will it look like on the inside?

I really do like the "Expo" colour scheme as its "legacy" and would be nice to keep the scheme on the originals until there end. We are keeping the green station look, so why not the original colour scheme?

The cars may have to be repainted anyway, if so then it makes sense to use the new livery.

Broken window theory, attracting new riders, preventing/correcting rusting, etc.

Judging from the condition of advertising that I see on busses and skytrain cars these days, I don't think that they really care that much about vehicle advertising anymore.

If the Mark I trains are getting the Translink 2.0 ivory, will the Mark II first generation also be updated from "Translink 1.0" to "Translink 2.0" ivory?

I was wondering that too.
(BTW is your spell check changing "livery" to "ivory"?)

No that was my spelling it wrong. When they do pain the original Mark II's, I hope they add in the LED displays at each end and maybe even the LED station info…oh now they may as well turn them into a Mark II second generation.

It says only painting 4 of them to "test" the paint scheme. Probably to see if it viable for the rest and if anyone will do it when the time comes to refurbish the cars.

When Translink refurbished the D40/60LF's why didn't they repaint them in the 2.0 theme? It would have really helped build consistency. and branding

How old are the "old" Mark II cars? They'll probably be painted when they need to get serviced/overhauled, so it probably will be a gradual thing.

that link does not explain the broken window theory that was being referred to here.

The original Mark II cars went into service a little while before the Millenium Line opened in the late summer of 2002.

The white on those MKIIs badly show rust-stains from the rust spattered up from the guideway. They look worse than the old MKIs.
