Hmm. Do any of you think that Montreal is ready for its own sub-forum?

I'm thinking of a Montreal specific sub-forum in addition to the Montreal P&C, like the setup Toronto has at the moment (not a full fledged SSP Local just yet).

In the sub-forum, we could have several "compilation threads" by borough or part of the city. For instance, a Griffintown compilation thread would list all of the major projects along with basic renders and links to the specific threads in P&C. We could also have a dedicated thread for retail, another for renovations, another for mass transit, another for the airport, etc.

As long as we don't go buckwild and over complicate things like on mtlurb. I stopped going there altogether a couple years ago when the layout became too cumbersome (among other things).

Yo Mtl, what do you think about a thread for diagrams and stuff, like a thread where we could post our thoughts and feelings and requests about and for diagrams?

Like for example, the Montreal diagram section could use some updating and work. Although I admit that with the absence of serge and the like, it has to be pretty arduous, and even trivial for a volunteer base to spend time drawing 20 storey Samcon condos.

But the fact remains, SSP diagrams can be very important for representation of Montreal abroad and local...

Anyways, some food for thought.

That's a good idea. I'll start a thread on the subject. The diagram base was how most of us discovered the website, I imagine. It is also a source of competitive advantage for SSP compared to other sites like Emporis which only have photographs and no side by side comparison. So much so that the news media took screenshots of the SSP diagrams when Montreal skyscraper projects such as L'Avenue were unveiled.

Pas vraiment, on parle du musée Grévin. Je trouve que ça ira très bien dans un centre d'achat. C'est pas exactement un musée des beaux arts ou d'histoire naturelle - c'est plus une attraction commerciale qu'un lieu éducatif.

^I know, I wish we had interesting looking skyscrapers. Rotterdam (and the Netherlands) never built tall, but they mostly built interesting. Quality over height. If Montreal is serious about NOT becoming a tall city, the least it could do is build interesting. We missed our chance with Griffintown, let's hope the next district won't be another missed opportunity.
