How about all the people causing a boom for local businesses who can set up on the same level and benefit from easy access and high foot traffic?
Have you not seen the awesome example of this already in New Westminster? I get tired of this idea that SkyTrain stations are to be separate buildings and that only. The station and that elevated balcony level of sorts are pretty much on the same level in the shot o_o a bridge over the conceptual LRT tracks opens up a world of possibilities.
Forget just the examples here, let's look at where else there are some serious examples of rapid transit station integration into local businesses. Tokyo....

Anime & culture cafes located right under an elevated train station, and probably integrated into station entranceways.

Here's a more extreme example: a complete convenience store, smack dab in the middle of a subway platform (I guess it's similar to that flower shop at Granville, but right in the "fare paid zone"
