None of you are acknowledging what a flag is or does. A flag is not a logo. It is an official recognition of the ethnic background and heritage of the city. The flag would not be used the same way the 'explorer' logo woud.

I really like the Saint John logo. It's miles ahead of any other Atlantic Canadian city. I would give Halifax second place, but I definitely don't really like any other logos besides the Saint John one.

I find the St. John's, NL (my!) logo to be very strange. I don't get the font and I don't understand the rainbow thing in the 'O'. I would love it if someone could explain it to me

I love how the Irving tanks in the background look like a distant futuristic city. It looks like manhattan from across the river if you cross you eyes xD

Yeah, because it wouldn't be used at all.

Municipalities seldom use their flags except to fly them in front of City Hall and MAYBE in front of other city buildings. Otherwise promotional logos, like the Explorer, are used in their place.

Haha, yeah, that's the oil refinery. I've always thought it looked like a big city.

You can see it from the west side at night. All the lights make that end of the skyline look quite impressive.

I thought it was supposed to represent the harbour, with the rings or arches representing the development of the city around it, and the small opening at the bottom of the 'O' being the narrow opening to the harbour and the window between St. John's and the world.

makes sense to moi!

I kind of like the font, looks slick and modern to me and not too fancified nor simplified

(I may have just created a word haha)

Article in the TJ today about the pension crisis now being history. Hopefully this will now allow focus on other important issues.

This was a big piece to get through and I know I'm personally impressed by the speed at which this extremely difficult was dealt with.

Can anyone tell me what is the cheapest way(s) to get to uptown SJ from the SJ airport?

The absolute cheapest way (although not the most convenient) would be to take Saint John Transit. Take the #32 Loch Lomond bus from the Airport to McAllister Place. Transfer at McAllister Place to the #1 West (Lancaster Mall via Rothesay Ave) bus and exit at or around King's Square.

Problem with this is the #32 Loch Lomond route only runs Monday - Friday and there are only 7 runs per day, so you could be waiting a bit.

The airport is really in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of the city... it's about 20-25 minutes without traffic to get uptown.

Thanks, I probably won't be coming until August 1st-ish but I was just trying to figure out costs. It sounds like maritime bus from Moncton is about $120 for two, whereas flying direct to SJ airport is about an extra $400 airfare for two + $30+ tax, so it looks like I'll be flying into Moncton. If the costs were close I'd rather give my money to SJ airport and services.

You should just wait for Air Canada's seat sale - there will be a few between now and August. Sale fares are typically the same as airfare to Moncton. Without a sale airfare to SJ are always higher.

Cool I will. I'm going to be visiting Fredericton and charlotte town and Halifax etc etc, so I may just fly into wherever and rent a car, or get very acquainted with the maritimebus service.

For what it's worth, if you do choose to fly into Moncton, Maritime Bus serves the Greater Moncton International Airport directly.

Diamond Taxi hotel shuttle is $15 from the airport to the Delta (uptown).
