It's not the first time though that I see an add in the paper for a Scores in Moncton.

Yes, but this time they appear to be looking for a franchisee specifically for a location right in the Mapleton Centre.

I presume this means that Imvescor has decided that if a Scores is going to set up in Moncton, that it is going to Mapleton. Maybe Verdiroc & Ashford has made some commitment to Imvescor as well.

I sort of think that a deal has already been made, pending a local franchisee signing on.

Meh... Scores. Not very exciting to say the least, Scores is a chain often found in the province of Quebec, which could be described as a mix of St-Hubert meets Pizza Delight. Scores is owned by PD, go figure... No more exciting than a Smitty's which is now closed. This is not to disrespect Scores, but I believe it would not work in Moncton. Also a franchising opportunity means nothing really, there's been an opportunity for Rocky Mountain Chocolate at Champlain for years, but nobody decided to bite and this is just one of many. If it was my money, I would not put it with Scores. Swiss Chalet and St-Hubert will eat them alive in Moncton! Rotisserie Chicken and ribs is already overly represented in the Moncton market. Next item!

PS. Teriyaki Experience at Champlain looks snazzy! Nice addition to the food court. Staff is clumsy however, give it some time.

The renovations for the Shoppers Drug Mart at Champlain are now finally complete.

The storefront for Sunglass Hut at Champlain is also complete. The store hasn't moved in yet though.

Got me. Someone must be really far back in the thread, or it's a post from about 2 years ago.

Check the time stamp - 3:22 AM, he might have been drunk out of his mind when posting it.

In any event, I interpret it as referring to the rumours of a Best Buy in Freddy, not Moncton.....

From his nick and previous posts IIRC, he's a Freddy Beacher, and yes, this is a clear example of posting while drunk.

I believe Freddy Best Buy has been off the radar for a year or two now, since rio took over Corbett centre.

The mystery store at the mapleton centre with "Best Buy blue" has a "retail space available" sign in the window. Guess there is still no tenant, which would explain a lot!

Uh-oh, MonctonRad won't like to hear the sound of that.... . In all seriousness, I'm sure that'll get leased fairly soon.

I already saw that. In fact, Ashverd has "for lease" signs in most of the remaining storefronts at Mapleton with the only confirmed arrivals yet to open being Tag and Banana Republic.

I am beginning to wonder that there indeed are no more prospective tenants who have actually signed leases. There may be retailers sniffing about, but that might be all........

Sucky, sucky, sucky!
Maybe it's the economy, maybe it's the project itself or maybe Moncton is starting to get saturated retail-wise, probably it's a little bit of everything.
I still believe JYSK is coming at some point and hopefully Home Outfitters will get hitched too. Who knows maybe Marshalls will end up there too...?

I see that the Pets Unlimited stores in Moncton and Dieppe have joined forces with an Ontario chain and are now rebranded as Petculture.

I presume this has been provoked by the arrival in the city of both PetSmart and Pet Valu.

And so the pet wars continue......

Maybe it's just the Pets Unlimited chain deciding to set up a consistent brand across the country?

Undercover Boss Canada had an episode with her; and I was surprised that PU was part of a bigger company that had 3 or 4 chain names across the country. (IIRC She had gone to a PU store in PEI or NS along with stops in BC and Ontario)

I've just been poking about in the Halifax section. Apparently the updated site map for Dartmouth Crossing shows a Marshall's.

If Marshall's is coming to Halifax, then suddenly the statements by those Zellers employees about Marshall's moving into the Northwest Centre don't seem so far off after all.

Marshall's is probably planning several stores in the region....

Last time I was at home sence i was talking to a clerk and she was telling me that Marshalls is definately comming to Moncton and she did not know where.. but the pad next to Target would be a logical one and a great place to put it.

Also has anyone heard what might be comming into the old Zellers on main street casue that is one big empty footprint in the Moncton retail sector.
