Thank you. I appreciate that.

The internet term "troll" is thrown around as much and as meaninglessly as online gamers calling each other "newbies," or "noobs," etc...

The terms are often used when someone disagrees with another opinion. Calling someone a troll is easier than forming a lengthy argument.

I really hope by the time these events come that the hotel is completed. It may even be incentive to build faster lol

We're apparently supposed to be getting word on the Fundy Quay development some time in the new year. Skate Canada is in October so...unlikely that it would be built in time for that. Curling is in March 2014, which may also be unlikely.

Waterfront development made it sound like it was "very soon and imminent"
Maybe I'm just too anxious ...

Was uptown tonight for the first time in a while.

Wow - they really outdid themselves this year on the decorating. King Street is GORGEOUS.

I hope there are some photographers taking photos... looking down at all the lights lit up from the top of King is amazing.

I dont know if it is still there as I dont live in the city anymore but there used to be a creepy life size doll in the front window that used to look out on the street.

I used to walk past that every day when I was younger and it scared me to death. I can assure you it is now gone.

In regards to an announcement on what they're going to be building/planning? We've been hearing soon and imminent for about a year and a half now.

My wife's relatives owned this building for nearly 50 years up until about 3 years ago and that doll in the window creeped me out every single time we went to visit. A very old, nice-but-senile lady rented that apartment for decades and I believe she has since passed away. The doll has subsequently disappeared as has the several-months-dead cat she continued to feed (no joke!).

I'd like to buy that just so I could put a creepy doll back in the window.

Cool how little has changed in 113 years (other than missing chimneys interestingly enough)

It used to be, I'd skip a few days, and not miss much...my replies may seem a bit dated...

To RyeJay (respectfully of course )

I lived in SJ for many years, and though I had a car sporadically, I used public transit more often than not. Unless you live in the boonies, like Redhead or Lorneville, you can get around pretty well. Service could be better, but someone has to pay the bill.

Also, all public transit is subsidized. Saint John is right in the middle of the pack of Canadian cities when it comes to the level of subsidization it gives its transit service. It's unpractical to think a bus service would make enough to cover it's costs without taxpayer help.

About downtowns (uptowns)...

I also like fredericton's downtown, it lacks the urban feel that SJ's has but has plenty of restaurants, shops and businesses. I think Moncton needs to look at creating one (no insult intended).

Just wanted to say that Saint John is decorated beautifully for Christmas! You guys are lucky! I wish we would do more downtown here in St. John's..

Saint John is by far my favourite city in NB (and in my opinion, the only city worth visiting at all ) Having been there a few times, the parts I've seen have been beautifully preserved and it still maintains that gritty, old world feeling while also somewhat modern at the same time. I love it! You guys are lucky to have such a great mid-sized city. If I had to move to NB, I'd be in Saint John in a heartbeat!
