I think that would be quite interesting. In that article it almost sounds like the second observation deck would be part of the new spire, as in a second pod section similar to Toronto's skypod.

Yes, a second observation deck was the plan. I don’t remember much about it. It was quite a bit smaller and didn’t have a restaurant. I believe it was just an observation deck. Construction materials have come a long way since then, however, and maybe they could do something more ambitious today.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the back of the Harbour Plaza the Gardiner Expressway?

Yes Harbour Plaza is bounded by two Highways/ Highway offramps

Lakeshore Blvd.

Harbour St.

Gardiner Expressway

Hence the skywalks connecting it to Waterpark Place, Maple Leaf Square and Air Canada Centre.

You bury the tracks and use the adjacent land on either side for 10-15 blocks. You could easily end up with quite a huge downtown park smack dab in the middle of the CBD.

Exactly, comparing Queen's Park to Central Park is a little ridiculous. Queen's Park isn't even abutted to a major pedestrian artery. There's is little in the way of retail, condos, or heavy downtown pedestrian traffic along Queen's Park. Toronto doesn't have a big downtown park. That's just a fact.

Allan Gardens and Moss Park have potential, but they currently feel a little removed from Yonge Street and the hustle/bustle of the city. Maybe when the city grows towards them and around them, they'll feel downtown. The casino project is our last best chance for a sizable park right in the thick of it. The 'Jane Jacobs Park' proposal at Wellesley is another opportunity we can't squander.

The Casino Park would be comparable to Millennium Park in Chicago, and I'm totally cool with that!

Me too. Decking the tracks is expensive. If we're ever to get a park on top of the tracks it has to be tied to a big development like a casino.

Well it's nice to see some tall proposals in other cities

I have gotten official word from Cadillac Fairview that they will be adding two floors to the Tour Des Canadiens project in January taking the total to 50, which would officially put it onto this list. Sales are doing extremely well I'm told. I'm not sure if somebody has already posted that here.
