It may be a good fit but:

1. I wonder what the street level/life is like.
2. It may need some local aesthetic refinements to fit in.....
3. Moscow seems to have a megalith skyline with not much actual livable condo district yet, but I could be wrong.

They are doing some cool stuff over there.

Great Calgary picks KW! I love the bronze glass. What would you think if Moscow's Mercury tower was proposed in Calgary as the city's first supertall?

Mercury City will be done in mid 2013 and will be the tallest building in Europe. Behind it in the picture is Federation Tower, which, when complete in 2015, will be 506 meters tall.

Mercury city is almost done construction. I quite like it for it's TRON/80's-chic style.

agree......there is just something I like about this tower. Its like hong Kong meets Moscow..... The glass colour is interesting, maybe I would prefer more transparency to the bronze glazing....

I like almost every single tower going up and that has gone up in Moscow in the last decade. City of Capitals (boxy, but even too boxy for Toronto I'd wager!), Federation Tower, Evolution (probably the nicest twisting tower on the planet), Eurasia, 16 IBC Tower 1, even Triumph Palace rocks!


If anyone hasn't checked out the Moscow International Business Centre (IBC) yet, definitely check it out. It's basically a brand new Lower Manhattan built in the last ten years.

While the individual towers are nice enough, I am not a fan of the Moscow International Business Centre. It is a pissing match between russian oligarchs and as a consequence, there is absolutely no integration, synergy and the whole district doesn't feel organic at all. Calgary has managed to do a much better job than Moscow if you ask me.

I agree. It will come along eventually though. Have a look at the old buildings at the base of these giants. There are 2 story shitholes all around them.

To be fair, Moscow had the disadvantage of exisisting for hundreds of years before planning for Mega Towers would even be dreamed up by the most creative minds.

For the record, I also think the moscow stuff is great. Just think it looks isolated. The buildings themselves are beautiful, especially the simple rotating cubes.....clever.

It looks isolated because all of moscows skyscrapers have been spread out throughout the city, they never really had a financial district of towers before. Even the seven sisters are scattered around! What a beautiful city though!

I don't believe there is a plan for one in Moscow. The one in Dubai is on indefinite hold.


This is another incredible Moscow proposal, though I think it may have since been cancelled.

This was the original proposal for the Moscow International Business Center (MIBC), the tallest one, Russia Tower, and the one shaped like an M, City Hall, were both cancelled.
