It must have been nice to dodge the traffic jam on Bow Trail today by riding the train. Love the West LRT.

Indeed! I am really curious to see how much it will affect traffic on the west end. I don't think it will do too much.

and whizz by all of the cars going 25 km per hour in a 60 zone. What is with the drivers in this city?? Just because the roads are wet, does not mean it is ice.

Most of the West line is grade separated at major crossings. It should not affect traffic that much.

Took the train to work this morning for the first time and it was awesome. At a good pace it took 6 minutes to walk to the 69 St station, probably be 10 minutes at just a stroll. I was facing backwards and just loved the view looking back toward all of the traffic moving around on Crowchild, Bow and all through the Beltline.
However scenic the view, it still doesn't compare to the view from my bike (i.e. no roof)

Of late perhaps, but come now... you've done some magnificent Edmonton bashing on this forum and others.

Anyhow, congrats on the LRT extension. Impressed at how Calgary's grown their system vis-a-vis Edmonton and Vancouver.

I was calling both of you out, I shouldn't have quoted yours specifically. Peace and love, KW5150.
If I "attacked" people who misspell words I'd be a creepy basement-dwelling golem and never leave this site. I can start by correcting every one of your posts if you want to see what "attacking" looks like.

What I meant by this is if traffic levels will drop due to people taking the train. Up in Aspen Woods there is a lot of money. I don't foresee people trading their Range Rovers for the LRT.

You don't become rich spending $20/day on parking downtown. Anyway, it's quite the luxurious ride on the WLRT.

It's happened in every other well-off community that the LRT services.

$20/day? I spent $21 for 2 hours of parking close to The Bow last week. Never again!

I would give up driving a luxury vehicle any day to avoid all of these 30km per hour vehicles on the roads these days (the ones that think wet roads are slippery roads or they just dont buy winter tires). The train is luxury and the views are amazing. One of the best things is flying over the traffic jams. Another is getting in shape as opposed to sitting on your flat ass in a car every day. Clean air is always a plus too.

I hope most people can see the benefits of LRT in their neighborhood. If not, someone will always be there to fill the seats.

I remember taking the train to the SAIT station to get home and watching the daily traffic jams below, especially the days where the roads were icy and no one could get up the hill. I just sailed over, got home early and watched all of the people on the news struggling to get home until about 8 or 9 pm.

The trick is to park in the beltline in a pay lot, or one of the other cheap lots and hop on the train, or walk a few blocks. Not only do you get a small city tour, its also a quick walk and very cheap. If you park near buzzards / bottlescrew bills, you can park all day for 20, or on the street for 3.75 for two hours, then it is 3 short blocks and 1 long block to the bow.

You get rich by having your company pay for your stall (and you only pay the tax).

You get richer by having your company pay for your parking and then not realize it is a taxable benefit!!
