ctv cbc city tv are all out of downtown winnipeg

If true, too bad - the houses may not be to everyone's liking, but they certainly take away from the cookie-cutter feel new homes often have.
Usonia Homes will still be operating...just under new management.

True, but interesting to note that the condition contained in Bell's approval (2011-163) does not appear in their subsequently approved broadcast license (decision 2011-444).

Looks like that was taken from Dept of Finance at Albert and College (old SaskTel building). Restricted access, I'm guessing.

Correct. Roof is off limits to all, I've tried asking about getting access up there but it gets denied.

CTV has it's Skycam up there, so obviously some people get access to it, but I guess you have to have a reason to be there and not just for fun.

My pictures are just through the windows, which are very narrow and wouldn't work well for a panoramic shot.

I drive by the site everyday as I live a couple blocks from there in the heart of suburbia. Took another look today and I'm not sure which hole you are talking about. The stalled development directly south of Canadian Tire on the corner of Prince of Wales and Haughten hasn't been touched. All of the footings with the rebar sticking out are still there and the fence is still up (sort of). The only activity on the site in the past year has been the removal of the consrtructon trailer.

I could never figure out why that development couldn't make a go of it. They've built 4 of those condo units in the area with 2 more under construction - all have sold like hot cakes from what I've seen and heard.

Just want to share that I recently returned from a business trip to Regina. My room was at Hotel Sask facing Victoria Park on the 6th floor. It was a very impressive site in the evening with the Hill towers lit up with their uniquie roof lines and I could also see the LED lights in the plaza changing colours. The view from the Hotel Sask certainly is one that should impress visitors to your city. My only 'critique' of downtown Regina is that it seems so void of life at night. Maybe more pubs/clubs/restaurants downtown would help. I have to say that Saskatoon does seem to have a more vibrant night life downtown, but Regina has incredible potential!

Starbucks

Because I googled the whole 2020 11th ave hashtag thing, I actually received targeted advertising on facebook today that actually had the title of "who likes starbucks?" I think we can conclude that it's coming from the company themselves...

She also told me that her old co-workers there said that eventually they'll open a new location...

Sorry I have not a lot of info.
Based on this old order, they got the right ot a decertification vote, but only after they had theri first CBA in place. Perhaps they have never completed a CBA or had a vote.

Has anyone had a chance to look at the Central Library Redevelopment Study?

I just sort of skimmed through it, but it looks pretty interesting. As much as I liked the renderings that were released earlier (and they are included in the study), I think that with regard to the actual floor plan, it might be my least favourite. It also appears to be the smallest. I think I'm torn between Options B and C...I like the options that involve residential.

Anyone who's read it...I'm not sure what they mean by "City Hall Forum"...any ideas?

City hall forum is the large multi-purpose meeting room that occupies the western half of the podium at City Hall (including the cafeteria) . It has been used as flex space for staff for the past few years during renovations of the 14th, 15th and 2nd floors, but it used to be a well used public meeting room. The library plans were to include the space in their redevelopment so that the city could repurpose the existing forum.

Have you ever considered enrolling in English 100? I think it would do wonders for you.

Thought I would share a photo I have come across touring the innanet. Maybe lighten the mood around here and stimulate conversation.

I wish the city had more pre war rowhouses and apartment blocks.

You are correct. It is 13th Avenue. The row-houses are on the corner of Cameron Street and 13th Avenue and they still exist. My cousin owns and lives in one of the Cameron Street units. The houses on the left side of the photo have been replaced by the Davis Mews (seniors housing) complex.

It's funny, I didn't even recognize the Cameron Street side and thought maybe they were demolished until I streetviewed and saw them there. From my memory I thought the rowhouses were only on 13th.

I always found this block of rowhouses interesting! Only example like this I can think of in Regina or Saskatoon. I wonder what the year would be?
