The Freedom Tower will be Downtown's peak, antenna, spire, or not. The original Twins were the peak, even before the antenna. The antenna will be built,
but I don't think it will improve on the design.

Yes I know lol, but the new WTC was designed to have a spiral effect. And that effect would be somehow lost if 1WTC's antenna was scrapped.

1 and 2WTC were never meant to be twins afaik.

Speaking of "never meant to be", the Freedom Tower was never meant to be topped by a flimsy looking antenna. I don't think the spiral effect will be on anyone's mind anyway.
Especially from vantage points other than the harbor.

I want to say I'm jealous of those of you that get to see the construction of 1 WTC. Being in Miami the tallest building here is the Four Seasons Hotel which tops out at 789ft. Wish they would build a supertall down here that I could enjoy. Either way thanks to those of you that have uploaded countless pictures of the construction of 1 WTC. I may need to plan my next trip out there to see her in person.

Well i live in the UK and the tallest building by me is about 300ft

What floor is the glass at? Also, (this is a bit off topic but I still need to ask it somewhere) Is it possible to make a small model building (not a hardcore model either....probably just using poster board) using the tube structural system. Back to 1WTC. Why has the glass pace slowed down?

I just wanted to say that I think the whole complex will be complete by around 2016/17. I think anchor tenants for Towers 2 and 3 will come around very soon .

Earlier today, Jordan Barowitz, the Durst Organization’s director of external affairs, snapped a photo from the top floor of 1 World Trade Center, which his firm is helping the Port Authority to lease. The view from the 102nd floor rather reminded us of a certain iconic magazine cover.

The space, by the way, is still available for lease, for those so enticed.

Speaking of the top of the World Trade Center, last week, while the rest of us were busy hustling out of town for Thanksgiving, some pieces of the spire that will crown the city’s tallest tower (for now) set sail on a barge from Valleyfield, Quebec, where they were fabricated. It’s the first real look at the spire in real life, and those steel beams sort of forces the question: is that really anything more than a glorified antenna?
