I think many consider Dante's business itself a landmark here, and I would have to agree. This location however, not really. The former location at Undergound was very much a landmark.
At any rate, I can't believe these developers paid so much for this lot to build the repulsive, dated looking crap they are proposing. What the hell are they thinking? This is one of the most prime pieces of real estate in the city.
Well, they did put an American flag on it. That counts for something

Interesting...just like The Mansion on Peachtree/Mandarin Oriental, this place has more of a timeless look. Whichis great to have incorporated with modern and contemporary buildings.
Dante's is out of place in that location and a new building makes sense, however this is not a very attractive addition given some of the more interesting high rises around it. Seems too little; also I can't see ten floors in this - looks like nine to me. In any case an under utilization of this prime space. But then, this is America and we should be happy it is not a gas station.

My thoughts exactly, 10 stories, wtf? they could have reduced their foot print and built taller at least. And Dante's wasn't about a location, it was about a personality, it was never a landmark.

Hopefully, this will include a minimal amount of retail/commercial space on the first floor. That would make this development much easier to swallow, imho.
So the street level of Skyhouse isn't completely god awful. I was pleasantly surprised today.

77 12th is turning out pretty great IMO. The cladding is nice, obviously comparable to 1010, and the retail shells in the bottom look like they have great potential. That stretch of 12th feels like a completely different area with the tower hovering above.
Mi Cocina is open and looks amazing, and they had these cool fan things on the street, I didn't get a good look, so idk if they were fans or windmills or what, but they didn't seem to be moving at a consistent rate...?
The Hyatt on 10th is chugging along as well.

Has anyone else noticed the red and white neon on top of the dual-branded hotel at 10th and Williams? I think it looks really tacky... but hey, it matches the Checkers next door. Maybe they were going for contextualism? :/

I think the white would look fine on it's own, but the red looks awful, especially along that screwed up arch curve thing that isn't actually curved but some odd shape that was trying to be curved.. ugh, and right on the highway too, where everyone passing can see it.

Stadium deal between GWCCA and Atlanta Falcons expecter by December 31! Hopefully, it's the site at Northside and Ivan Allen, and that area gets a ton of new development!
Hopefully the city council blocks it, and spends the $300 million hotel tax on useful things like transit and streetscape/downtown improvements instead of yet another massive building in a row that divides the city east-west. The Georgia Dome is a great facility that already hosts world-class events and can continue to do so for decades.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will join Gov. Nathan Deal and representatives from the Porsche company to break ground on the company's new North American headquarters in Hapeville.
The politicians will join Porsche officials Tuesday morning and welcome the car manufacturer as the first company in the Aerotropolis Atlanta business district.
The new headquarters is being built on the old Ford plant site near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Porsche officials say once the site is completed, the new headquarters may employ up to 400 people.
