I’ve wondered if they could build over top of them. I’m sure there are complications to doing that. The Gulf Canada building has a parkade that goes over the tracks, so clearly it can be done. That’s the CP main line, however, so disturbing traffic on it wouldn’t be easy. Can you place beams over top while they’re running trains underneath? Another idea might be to build essentially a +15, or higher, platform that you would turn into a park, something like the Highline Park in New York. You’d need tall buildings on either side first, of course. This would muffle the sound and soak up the CO2 from the trains.
