Federal funding for Arena/Community Centre

If you're a frequent or occasional visitor to the Maples Arena, or Red River Community Centre you'll be glad to hear the two facilities are in-line for some improvements. Federal funding of just over 33-thousand dollars will cover the cost of improved security and facility enhancements at the Community Centre. Over 85-thousand dollars will pay for a walkway, a heat recovery system, dehumidifier and new bleachers at the Arena.

Looks like the sports bar at City Place is coming along ,Rohl Enterprises was pushing a gas service this week down Hargrave St from St. Mary Ave for Manitoba Hydro to service it.

I think its fantastic that Winnipeg shopping districts around the city are getting unique retailers. For example, personally, I go to Polo Park because of RW &Co., Guess, and Forever XXI. I go to St Vital because of Buffalo and London Drugs. I'll be going to Kenaston Commons/Seasons because of IKEA. Unique retailers will attract shopping. My point, the powers that have influence for downtown development need to step it up and realize that will be the only way to get Winnipegers outta the suburbs and to downtown to shop. A great first stepping stone would be to get a retailer like H&M downtown ASAP. People will come downtown for that and make a day outta it with all the great shops and restaurants already established.

Not saying the Upper Fort garry Gate isn't an important part of the local history, But really. "friends of fort garry" shit or get of the pot!!!

Issue here is MONEY, this is also a donation funded build, not a bunch of massive handouts like most get. And they have done a lot of work there if you are in the construction trade and know what to look for. I know it looks like it did 2 years ago, but this year they had to do that damn dig to find artifact ( slows crap down ) they had to remove what was contaminated soil from the old Petro station, and if you notice besides the fence, the trees are all wrapped. Last I heard it was a spring start as it always has been. Remember winnipeg doesn't have enough companies to do projects and this one would fall last on the list. Plus in reality, I rather them take their time and do it right. This is part of WPGs history, lets no f*ck it up.

I think I had remembered reading that they might start accepting requests for proposals for the lots.

I was wondering about this lot. So they only bought the small lot immediately south? Not any of the wasteland that stretches to Graham? Too bad. But, a small step if they can build something beside the Regis.
