Crap! I guess that means he never was able to sort out the property tax thing. I'm going to miss that his restaurants don't exist any more. So quirky and fun -- especially on the expense account!

I had a friend from Charlotte visiting Atlanta for the first time in about 12 years, he could not believe what Buckhead looked like. He said it feels bigger than all of Charlotte and looks better too.

imo it's very nice for what it is - it well represents the college football hall of fame, I like the way it relates to the park & the street level glass and 'openiness'. It looks very pedestrian friendly. It's a perfect location for it (no matter where the new Dome is built). It's way better than that surface parking lot. I bet it will be a huge success and good for downtown.

That's for sure. I still feel like there was another design at some point I liked a lot better though.

yeah- the first one that came out was better (!) It had that sweeping football curve running the whole length of it. think it simply costs too much

Thanks, obviously they moved it back. Based on the splashy announcement, in 2010, renovations were to have begun in 2011 and taken 4-5 years.

Future projects being considered for the GDOT program to enhance the I-75/85 Downtown Connector include a roundabout at Courtland Street, some kind of "perforated plaza deck" built on top of the interstate near St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and capping the interstate with a park at the Gold Dome.

I love it.. this is exactly the type of thing Atlanta needs. it would give so much more character to the city and add needed green space in the downtown area. These plans have actually been around for awhile. I especially love the parks over the connector at the Capitol and between Piedmont / Peachtree.. that presentation is actually very well put together. forget a new football stadium, make this happen!

If it was really important for him to keep it open, he would simply relocate to O4W, or some other random spot in the city. That man is ready to retire and he has just been waiting on a good offer.

I think many consider Dante's business itself a landmark here, and I would have to agree. This location however, not really. The former location at Undergound was very much a landmark.

At any rate, I can't believe these developers paid so much for this lot to build the repulsive, dated looking crap they are proposing. What the hell are they thinking? This is one of the most prime pieces of real estate in the city.
