Come now, I really don't think "fish" meant anything derogatory by that. It was just an observation, by someone used to the breakneck speed of developments in a megacity like New York, that it must be hard to be a skyscraper fan in a small-to-medium sized city like Pittsburgh, with few new developments. I assure you, many of us here in New York, including myself, are fans of Pittsburgh, and proud of how one of America's most important industrial centers of the past has reinvented itself so wonderfully, especially when compared to other "Foundry" cities that have virtually crumbled. Admittedly, I'm a bit biased, since my mother is from Pittsburgh originally, but I have heard many others here express high opinions of the place, especially if they have had the opportunity to visit.
One thing about Pittsburgh I am
not a fan of, however, is the closed-minded, angry "homerism" so common there. You're engaging in some of that right now, so cool off, take five, and inhale one of those glorious Primanti sandwiches of yours.
Now, with that said, with this new tower added into the mix, just how much of Downtown Pittsburgh belongs to PNC at this point? Aren't they, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and Point Park University, the three biggest land owners in the Pittsburgh CBD now? That's quite a shift from just a decade ago.
