According to this, the track is ready.

Against all odds, F1 track has been built, ready to host race

It looks like the F1 track merited an update of Google Maps. I'm pretty sure it isn't a coincidence that the aerial imagery has been updated very, very recently:

I getting pretty excited about this. But did you all see the insert in today's paper? The parts that discussed Austin were embarrassing and poorly written. Instead of focusing on Austin as a 21st century modern city, it seemed to highlight barbeque and cowboy boots, the latter being a stereotype a lot of us would like go away. I didn't see any photos or discussion of the hill country scenery of west Austin, Lake Travis, Mt. Bonnell, or anything like that. John Kelso, who is usually funny, wrote an article for the insert but it just wasn't up to his usual humor.

There was also a photo page where a photo of Detroit was shown as being Dallas. And one of the full page advertisements showed Austin's skyline as it was 5 years or so ago, which looked nothing like today's skyline.

Hopefully the real Austin will present itself well for all our visitors. Looks like the weather will cooperate and the temperatures will be cool to mild.

And it can only be used on one vehicle... preferably a scooter/moped.

BTW can anyone or is anyone going to or willing to take some photos during the races in and around Austin and the actual races?

I'm going, will probably take some pics but there should be TONS from other folks with far better cameras. You can already see tons of pics as people arrive and get VIP tours of the track on twitter (#USGP) or on turn1's FB site:
