Must say, the stuffed one, though expensive, is quite filling.

First off, the new Mexican place out in the new strip mall in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue (7-11 and Little Caesars), is apparently opening today! I'm tempted to go by and try it out for lunch. Its the same format as Burrito Del Rio; big burritos.

Oh, saw this in the WFP:
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/fast-food-conflict-heats-up--on-corydon-178327831.html

So if anyone is wondering what is going on with the new Harvey's location in the old Corydon Chicken Delight... Gerbasi is at it again.

Fast-food conflict heats up on Corydon

By: Bartley Kives

...
THE owner of a former Chicken Delight on Corydon Avenue has accused Fort Coun. Jenny Gerbasi of working behind the scenes to scuttle the redevelopment of his commercial property.
...

...
Although city zoning rules in 2008 make it impossible to open a new drive-through window on the Corydon Strip, Harvey's would have been free to operate a drive-through if Cara Foods' application came forward within a year of Chicken Delight's closure.

But the Harvey's application didn't come forward until this summer, after the one-year grace period ended. Moe Investments director Munther Zeid now accuses Gerbasi of keeping him and his prospective tenant in the dark.

"We didn't know about it. They didn't know about it," Zeid said. "But she was working behind the scenes to kill it."
...

So I gave 5 Guys a try the other day. I have to say, I have no idea why people were excited. Maybe it was because my expectations were high, but I was completely let down. The fries are alright, but nothing to write home about, and the burgers - aside from being cooked fresh in front of you - are condiment soggy and devoid of distinct flavour. I would rank 5 Guys as about the 73rd best burger in Winnipeg. So, if the other 72 restaurants are really busy when you get a hankering - then 5 Guys is the place to go!

I'll never be back.

I had heard that Taps pub in the Dakota Hotel made good burgers. We gave it a go on Saturday night and it was worth the drive. Homemade burgers, nice fresh buns and great fries. And they have Canadian on tap. We'll be back!

^Agreed!!!

As a self-professed burger aficionado - I love Tapp's. Their peppercorn burger is lights out. One of the best buys in town. Outside of the Fox and Fiddle, Tapp's is one of the best sports pubs in town. Great atmosphere, great vibe. I cannot say enough good things about that place. I have gone numerous times and the experience is always fantastic. Heavily recommend for any sports/pub fan.

I should have mentioned that. Even during a snowstorm the place was packed with nice people.

Yup Tapps is a good place,I like the choice between sports bar on one side and couch & fireplace on the other. people smoking right outside front doors is annoying though.

You should go. The kingburger is fantastic. Couldn't be made by nicer people either.

They usually shut down between late December and mid March.

Been there and had the burger. Not sure what "the best" burger in Winnipeg is but this is not in "the worst" list. Overall impression with my group was positive enough that we plan to return.

original joe's makes a good one for a chain restaurant. dairy whip's chili burger in a bowl is always a good bet as well!

Dairy Whip (aka The Whip) FatBoy is hands down the best burger in town. never had the chili burger in a bowl, i should try.

THeproblem with Mrs Mikes is the hours. Sunday afternoon in the summer they might be closed or open, you never know. They were open yesterday when I drove by at 630, so for those that need a "fix" b4 they close for the winter, now your chance.

Went to Don Pedro's in the Exchange on the weekend. I'd give it a 7/10 for price, service, food and their frozen margarita. I'll go back some day.
