I suppose like many things in Canada, horse racing remained under developed here. Sometimes I feel like the culture is getting stripped down slowly each year to the point that all that's left is shopping and video.

We don't interact with each other the same ways that we did 50 years ago. Everything seems to be about shopping or through an iPhone.

So now that we've fully digested the Hamilton disappointment, time to bring us back up again. What's happening with this piece of wonderful:

Perhaps, but if Canada is to build a shrine to football it should be in Saskatchewan.

Good as place as any I guess.

Will a stadium or arena ever be built to the initial design/proposal?

I hope they do a good job with the lettering/colouring of the end zones. What was depicted in the renderings look terrible so I'm hoping it was just a last minute illustration. 'Bombers' in one end zone and 'Bisons' in the other would work. Keep it simple and pay attention to colour choice.

Canadian stadiums never seem to get the end zone lettering right. Acadia University is one of the few exceptions. Their's looks amazing.

Yes, I believe Winnipeg is one of the hosts for the women's world cup in 2015.

Halifax's new mayor has said that he wants the city to commit to a stadium plan sometime during his four year term: http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/savage-leads-charge-for-new-stadium-in-halifax-1.1032263

Statements like that aren't a guarantee that anything will happen, but it is not a far-fetched plan either. In the past the biggest problem has been a lack of direction with stadium planning, so an interested mayor could make a big difference. In order to make progress, the city needs to secure a site (probably some surplus military land the federal government wants to develop) and nail down the scope and budget of the project.

Have potential sites been nailed down yet? I'd still like to see a stadium on the peninsula.

They should make it joint with one of the Universities in the area (Dalhousie or St. Mary's). Make it both a new Huskies Stadium and a potential CFL stadium for the Atlantic region.

The only way Halifax will get a stadium is through an athletics event of large scope. Either a goodwill games a commonwealth bid or maybe a canada summer games. I can't beleive how bungled the last Halifax commonwealth bid was where the costs balloned to what $1.7 billion which is ridiculous. All Halifax really needed for the commonwealth games that were high costs items was a 30,000 seat stadium for maybe 150-200 million and a aquatics facility for maybe 50-80 million.Halifax for being such a beautiful city and the major centre of the maritimes has probably the most small minded and backwards politicians in Canada which is really sad since Halifax really should have already had a stadium for the past 30 years but their politicians are to chicken s*!# to invest in it.

Agree. I 'got out of Dodge' 12 years ago. Life's too short to wait around for Halifax to get their shit together.

Agree. Having 3 football tenants is better than 1. Someone suggested putting a stadium in front of/in place of Victoria General Hosipital. That location would be perfect.

A successful Goodwill Games bid seems unlikely as the Goodwill games don't exist anymore.

Haven't officials in Halifax/Nova Scotia indicated that a stadium is on its way with or without a big event to host? Sounds like its a matter of 'when' not 'if'.
