Looks great, thanks for posting the link and render. I've always regretted not taking any courses at the Surrey campus when I was an SFU student, it's such a gorgeous building. The thought of having a multi-building post-secondary campus right in the middle of Downtown Surrey is very exciting, I think it's one of the best things about Surrey's city centre and can only get better if the campus grows.
You know back in the day Vancouver and other cities NoF use have a lot of farm space to that it spread out if you look they pretty much left none of it. Now Surrey and other SoF cities well pushing out into area toward farm land yes. But hey all other Cities NoF were no better back in the day. Except now there is ALR in place. Although its worth noting surrey had plans to save farm land way before the ALR was put in place.
As for green spaces you Lets compare big massive green parks between Vancouver and Surrey. Please tell me all the big green spaces you have around Vancouver that can compare to the amount in surrey
In just north Surrey alone: Green timbers, Bear creek, Tynhead, Surrey Bend(this alone pretty much is equal to stanley park), Hawthorn, Then on top of those green space we have are green veins that run all around the city to keep the green areas connected
Yes surrey is having cul-de-sac/winding road single detached development. But these are in areas where they do not want to see High development or lot of through traffic areas. Its called traffic calming. It allows cities to have nice quite neighbor hoods and not have to deal with high volumes of traffic.
Plus it pushes high density towards areas where the city wants it to be.
It gave me a headache trying to read your post lol.
langley, white rock and surrey "mainland" r combining to become one gigantic suburb, there is considerable future in projects like the berazan, if the economy could handle it...
why not build a gigantic casino - edgewater surrey, and an ice rink in this area...
White Rock will always remain secluded from 'Mainland Surrey' as you call it because of it's geological location. As for Langley and Surrey I'd say that both cities have been one giant suburb for the past 10 years and you can include Delta in there as well.

Within 20 years White rock will be back in the fold and part of Surrey. They are almost already bankrupt ,use most of Surrey's municiple resources now and cant raise taxes much higher. I have friends who used to laugh when it was suggested that W/R would be back into Surrey but now they too realize that its going to happen. White rock is too small to make it on its own unless they follow New West's model of high density. Only thing delaying it is ego.

New Westminster has a huge industry and job base, no way White Rock can even come close to following New Westminster's model.
(New West has three huge heavy industry hubs, parts of Quensborough, western edge of the city flanking the river and the eastern edge of the city flanking the river and Brunet creek...to top it off they have a casino)

I think you meant Geographical... they are different geologically in some sense, but not enough to prevent a bridge of development, they are some distance away though... Geographical?
saw some BC news here in Alberta, they want to put a gateway casino in south surrey, they should put it in surrey centre area instead, seems like there is a lot of opposition to it in south surrey
I don't quite understand the statement White Rock is secluded from mainland Surrey. Remember, White Rock is 3km by 1km in size. It is tiny. 90% of the area in South Surrey people refer to as White Rock isn't White Rock at all.
It's 16 blocks deep only.
So if you mean South Surrey is cut off then I'd argue so are Cloverdale and Clayton.
I was just reading through the "Build Surrey" Capital Project Corporate Report that was presented to council this past week. I was interested to see that the city plans to fund the performing arts centre and the relocation of the North Surrey Arena (page 6) in 2017...
2017 is 5 years away, and if that's when the begin the construction, I'm sure it'll be another couple of years before it's finished, but it's still nice to see a plan in black and white...
Personally, I don't feel that the whole civic centre development will be complete until they build performing arts centre and open up the plaza from City Hall to the Central City tower (which will require moving the arena).'
I'm hoping that Mayor Watts stays around until 2015.
Well its a new year and new batch of towers I've come across for the central area of surrey
Lets start with a bosa tower
This one was recently in the papers due to them shutting down the church at 104 and university drive. It will be a 31 storey tower for here
sorry best photos I could find
Next I shall show you the second tower to the urban village area
it is a 35 storey tower
and finally the last one i've found so far
I couldnt make out to much on it but heres some pictures
its location is 103 ave and university drive
I did see some stuff for a few 4 storey apartments around the same area but they arent all to exciting.
Oh wow. I won't be able to recognize my own home in 10 years as all this gets built up.
Heck, I was walking down University Drive (nee 134th St) and remembering the wooded corner that is now the D'cor and D'corize developments. Man, how this place is going to change...
Impressive plans as usual but are these under construction? Seems like Surrey always looks like it's finally gonna be a hot spot right before the economy goes south.
