Some renovations on Main Street to a building that sorely needed it. This area of Main Street and the adjacent Adelaide Street were pretty bad for drug dealing tenants until a few months ago. New ownership in the area and the recent amount of renovating and general fixing-up is really a good thing to see.

Thumbs up Lancaster Mall

It is nice to see life back in the West Side mall since Walmart opened!

Now if we only had a nice steak house over here!

As a long time lurker, I read this page every day but have never felt I've had anything constructive to add, but now I feel forced into action. Borussia Dortmund??? But seriously, all sarcasm aside, thanks for your input which I've always found to be interesting and informative, and thanks for being a fan of the Bundesliga, as a Bayern fan I'm happy to meet someone around here who isn't a Barcelona fan (or EPL)

Prost!

I apologize to non-soccer fans. Regular programming will resume shortly.

There's a new seniors complex going up on Loch Lomond Road near Hickey Road. "FATHER EUGENE O'LEARY SENIORS COMPLEX". 3 storeys, 46 units - 23 of which will be administered by the Dept of Social Development under NB Housing.

It looks decent, nothing fancy, reminds me of pretty much every apartment complex built in Moncton over the last 15 years. For Loch Lomond road, this is great.

Also, the former NCO office space on Crown Street is being refurbished, any word on tenants that will take it over. It is 43000 square feet.

Furthermore, the garage down the road is getting a facelift and was recently acquired.

The word is the Wyndham Worldwide will be moving into the old NCO spot. I'm a former Wyndham Employee let go in the RCI layoff/shutdown in 2010. This will be a good move as Prince Edward Square is a sketchy building with multiple issues, from the ground (literally) up. Poor ventilation, leaky roof, inadequate HVAC, rodent problems, etc. Just an old tired mall in need of massive capital to bring it up to today's standards. No hard feelings, I wish them all the best.

Thanks for the kind words! And seriously, stop lurking and start posting more often! We always welcome new users!

And yeahh...Dortmund . I'm ok with Bayern as well so you're still in my good books. And Prost? Are we talking Formula1 now?

RE: Seniors complex on Loch Lomond: It's going up on Eugene's Way (the road just off of Loch Lomond near Hickey). I'm not sure how far up the hill and away from Loch Lomond they plan on building it. I know there was word of it in this thread at some point in the past.

I say a little prayer every time I drive through that parking garage... lawd jesus. How did they screw up that structure so badly? Did they not realize the ground wasn't exactly firm?

If you let go of your shopping cart for too long in Giant Tiger you'll probably find it has rolled away because of the off-level floors.

---

Also, if there was any question about it, it's now official: Aberdeen now has signs out front of the old SJVW building stating that it is the "future home of Aberdeen Motors".

Yeah Munchen!! I'm a huge Bayern fan who was very disappointed they didn't resign Miroslav Klose. You're right about EPL and Barca.. it gets old

@GregHickman - Prost also means cheers in German. Are you an F1 fan? Alain Prost was my all time favorite driver.. The Professor

100% correct. I was told they are aiming to move around the beginning of March. I've also heard of some of the stories of the old monster mall.. Once the YMCA and Wyndham have pulled out, I wonder what will happen to that place..

I know Prost means cheers in German, I was just being cheeky. And yeah, I am an F1 fan, although I can't say i'm a big Prost fan.

As long as Prince Edward Square has Giant Tiger, NB Liquor, and Dooly's it'll stay in some kind of operation. I'd like to see the mall gutted and start anew but I can't see that happening in the near future. If it was to be bulldozed I can't see anything great replacing it in the imminent future. I don't know, maybe i'm wrong.

Once Wyndham moves out Prince Edward Square will lose a lot of business that supported stores such as the sandwich place and even Giant Tiger to a certain extent. YMCA will be gone and I don't think NB Liquor has long term plans for that location.

I personally would like to see the complex bulldozed. It's an eyesore and is a perfect example of failed urban revitalization. Be nice to see streets put in with new housing or a new school to replace Prince Charles school. That whole area is dreary and must be hard to motivate kids in school in that dark environment.

The midrise apt building next door, built at the same time, and owned by the same company is also in need of major renos. Back in the early 70s, insulation wasn't as much of a concern as it is today.

Indeed. It's a great looking building but could definitely use some work. It's a pretty good size building considering its location.

re: Bike lanes from Harbour Passage to UNB/Hospital. Council seemed to be in favour of the intiative and in particular Councillors Snook, Mackenzie, and Greg Norton were also vocal in support.
